Diff shimming is just as important as building the diff itself properly in order to have a quiet and efficiently running vehicle. Here's a couple quick tips on how to do that, and how to make it easier. Hope folks find it helpful!

I've gone to universal driveshafts in my EB48.3 for the maintenance advantages and because our local outdoor track is rather bumpy. While Tekno now makes unis for the buggy, Kyosho unis fit perfectly.
Has anybody tried Kyosho Truggy unis in the ET48? Wondering if they're also a fit. Thanks.

Have a few questions...
1. What pistons do most people run? 8X1.3?
2. What weight fluid FR and RR?
3. What spring rates FR and RR?
4. What is the internal drive ratio of the ET so I can figure out FDR? And about what should my ratio be if running a 1900KV motor?

2.) I run 55(losi) Front 50(losi) Rear
3.) Yellow up front, Orange rear
4.) Dont know.. Never calculated it out, but most common motor for this truggy is the 2000kv or 2050kv
I hope this helps. Granted, these are just what I run, and different people will run different things.. Best choice would be to just take a practice day, and try different setups, but only do one thing at a time, and make a note of the different affects each change makes. Also, make large adjustments. (i.e change oil from 35 to 50, vice or versa so that you can know without a doubt what that is doing. Then do your fine tuning later (2.5 oil changes))
Good luck!

2 - Very variable. I normally like stiff setups on all my other vehicles, but am running stock on the ET48.3 for shock oils while most run thicker. Look at Joe Bornhorst's Southern Nats setup as a common one.
3 - green springs (come as stock on both ends for 48.3) and yellow springs should cover you for most setups.
4 - 44t spur, 9/40 diff ratio
I've seen everything from 15-22 with a 2000kv truggy motor. I ran 17t on my 2000kv last time and it seemed ok, but I'm going to try going up another tooth for next time. I would probably start with an 18 on the 1900 and adjust from there for feel and temp since it also won't have quite the same torque as a truggy motor and will have to work harder, but is also a lower kv.
