Also if using Shoe Goo, use ACTUAL "Shoe Goo". I've tried a few of the similar alternatives and they will come loose in a good hit. Shoe Goo done right should last forever.

I ShoeGoo'd one of my servos to a Yokomo chassis once. I was gonna sell the chassis but couldn't remove the servo. So I included the servo with the car. It works, just give it plenty of time to cure.

Take an X-acto blade without the handle and carefully work it between the servo and chassis.

That's why you don't want to push it down so much...leave some gap between the servo and the chassis. Then all you need to do is slice the Shoe Goo and it comes right off. The servo tape method works well to keep that gap but for me it didn't hold well.

Default 1/12th Scale ESC Options

Thanks for all the information regarding a steering servo. I'm now wondering what are my best options for an ESC. I was looking at the Hobbywing XERUN 1S but this ESC is pretty pricy in my opinion at just under $200.00. Are there any others I should be looking into?

Thanks for the help!

Hobbywing 120 V3.1 with a booster. If at somepoint you get out of 1/12th scale racing you won't be stuck with a 1s esc.

You mean until someone comes along with acetone.

Even with acetone you usually can't get a servo off that has been CA'd down. The acetone won't get under the servo well enough to dissolve the glue. And it can attack the plastic of the servo case.

Orca has a 1s VX3 that can run 1s or 2s. Might be an option.
I'm trying a Hobbyking 1s esc for my first build.

Turnigy / Hobbyking ESC's require the set up card or LCD box to set up certain features don't they? For us here in the USA the set up card needed to be purchased from overseas, its not available within the USA.

I like the thoughts of buying an ESC that can be used for 2S as well but theres a G-Force ESC for 1s that seems like a nice unit.

DO you mean HobbyKing or HobbyWing

HobbyWing has a program board and ESC available in the US

http://www.hobbywingdirect.com/products/lcd-program

I like their products. I have the program board, XERUN STOCK Spec v3.1 ESC, and the XERUN 120A 1S V3.1 ESC.

All have been trouble free so far

As with a lot of things...especially with electronics, you get what you pay for. Sure there are less expensive options that will work. But in the long run you are better off paying for higher quality electronics.

For 1s esc, I vote for Hobbywing V3.1 1S. But....You'll need someone experienced with the esc to get you started.
