Not sure what flexibility you're referring to...its a 50W charger. Around 4A max charge on a 3S, would take more than an hour for a 5000mAh lipo.

Spend a little more and at least you'll have the power to charge quicker

I have a thunderpower 610C and while I like it only does 80W. If i did it over again (and might soon), i'd get the Turnigy Reaktor which can charge up to 300W / 20A and is only $65:

The flexibility I was referring to was the multiple leads for different connectors etc. If I ever got a different car/batt setup I wouldn't be looking for cables/ adapters. The 3s charge time wouldn't be a big deal as it'll be a while until I buy one and I'm just a yard basher anyway. Thanks for the suggestion and the tips...this rookie really appreciates the help. I really need to keep this under $100..closer to $50 if possible. That's why the Venom caught my eye. Thank you!!

Thanks for the tip! Does that charger require a power supply to run on AC?? Was trying to keep this as simple as possible. One charger to use at home(95% of the time)and use at the park off my truck if needed(5% of the time) I'm just a basher so I'll keep a couple batterys ready to go so....I'd like something somewhat fast but I won't be trying to make the next race..if you know what I mean. Something that will charge safely is probably more important than speed.

If that charger requires a power supply it would need something like this? I would thinks the ps would need to be as big as the charger itself?? I know nothing about these type chargers. Was hoping to keep it as 1 unit and under $100. Thoughts?? Thank you!!

Good luck with the Imax charger, a lot of people use it and it should be good for charging 4s at 5 amps if you need to I think. If you need any more help just post on this thread again and I will try my best to answer

This is a very common question, members wondering why a 50W charger won't do more than about 3 Amps on a 4S pack.
So will this charger charge a 4s at all even if it's slowly or it won't charge 4s at all? At this point it's not a real big deal if it doesn't as I am not running any 4s batteries for the time being but if I do happen to use them in future will I need to update charger?
Thanks

Nope, wouldn't recommend either.

If you want to keep it around $100 (and really, $50 is too cheap) I would recommend this package.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...r_Charger.html
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ers_350W_.html
and if you want it to be "flexible"
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...apter_Set.html

Just over $100 and shipping.....and when you want to upgrade the charger, the PSU should carry over to the next one.

If the charger is rated to charge 4S it will charge but will be limited to 50W so that is about 3 amps.

Yes of course....but around the 3A mark which, depending on the mAh, might take quite awhile. Usually on a lipo that is spent from running it, the mAh represents a 1C charge rate (ex: 5000mAh = 5A) and that should take roughly an hour.

Up to you if you have the patience.

This is the same as the HK eco six for three times more money. Shipping is faster though

This is another cheap one you might take a chance with.

Thanks for all the input. I ended up with the Traxxas because the hobby shop was willing to work with me on the price(more than fair) AND they warrantied the cheapo one that came in the package. So I came out with 2 chargers at less $$ than the link I posted. I have fired up the new one and it seems to work well...easy set-up(for a rookie) and pretty fast charge time. Life's good for now....off to bashing!!
