Durable MT that can take a beating before upgrading
#16
Haha I hear ya - Savage really doesn't need much though
Well some of these newer MT's are actually more like a truggy - so if you want to go flat pan chassis and center diff then there are a lot of options out there that might have better parts support and overall better quality, like MBX5T, MBX6T, 8ight T 1.0 and 2.0, RC8T, etc...all have brushless conversions available, can be found in used roller form pretty cheap, and can be fitted with MT sized wheels/tires.
All depends on if you want a custom build or something ready to go out of the box.

As with any product people have their opinions. Some say the savage and maxx dont really need parts and others say its a must and they wont last long.
From my personal searches it seems to be more of a 50/50 in regards to the savage. But most all say the maxx is weak.
The MT4 however seems to have a lot more favour with less durability issues. The Kraton appears to have about an 80/20 ratio.
I actually wanted the savage but decided against in favour of more durability. At this point i need RTR later i can build my own but for now im a noob.

I too have heard a lot of good about the Kraton. I'll admit it looks good for the price.
It also sounds like Arrma stands behind the truck as far as warranty issues.
Good thing is that you said your budget is $600, so with the Kraton being around $500 you can afford more batteries or stock up on some spare parts!

Xmoddz I think you are doing a great job with gathering all the info you can on what to buy. Honestly it dosent matter what car you end up with, if you bash it hard enough you will find the weak link. MrGrimm brings up a good point about the batteries too. Some guys go cheap and some go expensive. I ended up with a good name battery at a middle of the road price. I got trinity platinum 2s 6300 mah. They provide about 35-40 minuets of runtime on my savage flux and have really good power. Anyways good luck with whatever you decide to get. You are on the right track to lots of bashing fun.
