Tekno ET48 Build - TP 4070

Looks good Chainsaw! I've been following your builds since the Mt4/Wondertiger days! Your one of the OG convert a Truggy or buggy to monster truck guys. Back in the day you would take a 1/8 buggy and make it a monster truck which today would be the equivalent of the MT410 or Outcast. Or you would take a truggy and make it a monster truck which is just longer and wider than the converted buggy, but still the same basic vehicle.

Ok I finally made up my mind between the et48.3 and mt410 and got me an et48.3 coming
I’m really considering getting the mt410 shock towers and body mounts and bumpers to turn mine into a monster truck without just throwing big tires on it.
Being that I’m using a Tekin RX8 gen3 what’s the minimum and max motor I could use?
Although I have trenchers x’s I might go shockwaves instead since I do hit the pavement a lot.
Or another set of terrain crushers.
Also should I scratch the rx8 fan and go after a r1 fan like you did??
And one more million questions should I stay light on the diff weight or do a 50/200/30
Or aggressive like I did my lst 200/500/100
Sorry for all the questions

The chassis layout is the same on the MT/ET, it's just longer at the rear on the ET. You have to relocate the ESC for long motors. I'm not sure what the exact height difference is between the shock towers.

I just added the 1440kv 4070 tp my savage, running 16/48 and 6.65 inch tires and I am not so impressed with the temps, I thought it would run cooler but now it is more or less as hot as my leopard 4092 1730kv with no heatsink. No IR temp, only checked with fingers, and the temps outside was cool.
Am I geared too low? I mean this is a 8s motor to beginn with. It is geared for around 69 mph, do I really have to run heatsink and fans on this as well? I thought I wouldn't. I know the 1730kv leppy run hot on 6s with no heatsink and fan but I didn't expect this from a 8s motor that is lower KV and also longer.

Funnie, do you have smaller diameter tires you could try? If with the smaller diam. tires, your motor temp gets hotter, you'll know your average motor RPM is too high throughout your run, causing the heat. Also, do you have a center diff installed or are you using the stock transmission?

I use center diff with 500k fluid. I base my gearing on what others run, but I am not surprised if I have been geared too low all the time. But at the end of the day these are boat motors so they are watercooled and the can is smooth, no fins, so the heat won't dissepate as effectively as cans with fins.

You can’t base your gearing on what others run only use theirs as a starting point.
We all drive differently.
My lst with center diff started with 1800kv 48/16
Then 48/14 50/14 52/14 second motor 1500kv 52/14
Now I’m using 4092 1480kv 54/15 and in an all out grass run my temps are finally in the 130’s and occasional 145* spike but single fan has kept it in check.
If I can keep truck straight speeds are 50mph
If I want more then the trencher X’s gotta go for a more consistent tire.
My opinion you should try a 48/14
