Add a computer power supply or economy 20A switch mode power supply about $50 and you will be able to power other 12V equipment as well.

So when charging shorty packs how many amps should I be concerned with when charging? I was told 6 amps is a little low, 10-16 maybe? I'm trying to learn this stuff with Lipos and charging and it's really confusing....

I suggested you following the battery manufactures instructions, most current lipos recommend 1-2C charging with a few high end latest generation cells capable of 3C.

4000-5000mAhr capacity shorty depending on the battery you could use a charge rate of 4-15A.

Nice try backpedalin'.....no mention of models in your 1st post but if you believe that $160 gets you a "cheap" quality charger from a certain company, why would I spend $300 on one of their "higher-end" models? Is that the magic number for dollars spent?

I paid less than $200 on my PL6 and I can assure you, its no "cheap grade" charger.

Umm, the Graupner is over $400 with the included PSU....your budget go up?

Nope...Amazon has the Graupner Polaron EX for 173.00 , free shipping with my Prime. I could pick up a power supply for less than 50.00. It's a little over my budget but it seems like a good charger...

Wow, good deal....I see that one is the ONLY Graupner charger that is priced like that. Weird.

Anyways, make sure you get a decent PSU (output wise) to take advantage of the charger. A converted computer power supply from feathermerchantrc.com is what I ended up with. For the $$, you wont find anything close in output (amps + watts)

I really like the matching combo that Graupner offers, compact yet fairly powerful but $400 is pretty pricy. Maybe the lotto will kick in sometime soon.

I thought it was a great price too. I went to the Hobbytown by my house and they sell the same one for 319.00 and then another 150.00 for the power supply.

That one can't balance 2 cell pack out of the box, weird.

Blah. The 306B was and still is one of Junsi's top of the line single channel chargers. Quality wise it is no different than the Junsi dual channel chargers.

FMA PL6/PL8 is the tops in quality/reliability and computer interface. Junsi Duo chargers are tops in the nice display department. If FMA ever comes out with a duo charger with a good display I'll switch over.

That's fine.

I bought the 406 Duo ICharger for its ability to give real time IR (internal resistance).
That tells how the lipo will retain its voltage through the race.
Voltage is speed.

Also, the ICharger is one of the few companies that updates there chargers software.
I don't know about the PL6, but you save money.

Good deal on chargers? I was just mentioning the pricing on these units, no more than that.

You should read up about the PL6 IMO....it gives IR readings, is firmware updateable as well as a host of other features.
Even retailers feel the need to give the consumer the "lowdown" on the PL6.
