I just picked up an almost non used futaba 3pks with a spektrum 2.4Ghz module. I used it a couple times and I really like this radio so far...However I got a question about the 'select' (center button which has light around it) button. Whenever I push on it (so I opens the selected menu) the button feels like it clicks twice. So when I lightly put my thumb on the select button I feel the first click (nothing happes though). Then when I push a bit firmer on the button, it clicks again and then opens the selected menu.
Can someone tell if this is normal with the futaba 3pks?? Thanks in advance!

When you push the center button on the 3PK it should only click once. It should not be double clicking. When you move through your menus with the center joystick it should be a smooth motion with a smooth click, you should not be pressing the button firm or hard to get it to open selected menus.
Hope this helps..

t does move smooth, when I move the button and click to get into a menu it only clicks once. But when I immediately click on the button it feels it does click twice. However it clicks twice it does function normally and I do not have to push it hard or anything.

Is it a 5 button (under the screen) or a 7 button? The 5 button is is also a multi function( If I remember right)
Attachment 1103190
Attachment 1103191
The 7 button does not do that, the 5 button might, as it is a rocker & a pushbutton switch (LOL I think) I have the 7, but have had to set up several 5's for some friends.

You prob. got a 5 button radio(the older style). It seems like everything is functioning as it should. Perhaps your pressing the center button while you are scrolling the joystick. What i mean by that is, the joystick could be not centered while you are pressing the center button thus you get the double click. But i wouldn't worry about it, sounds like everything is functioning normal.

I was thinking the same thing. The older model i believe had the black buttons on the back? the new 3PKS i believe have the silver buttons. The older ones were not as smooth as the new models from what i remember?

Hello
I know this is NOT the sale section BUT with so many Futaba members here I thought why not ask.
Is there anyone here that has a Futaba FUTL8905 -- PK-FSM RF Module for 75MHz FM Transmitter with Synthesized System FSS that they would like to sell?
Please let me know as I am looking for one.
Thanks
George

So here's my remedy/solution to the problem:
I recently had a similar issue happen to my SM1001 TX Module. The pivot point on the antenna cracked and needed attention. I searched for the replacement antenna and actually found the correct Spektrum p/n:SPM75001. However, no LHS shops had it in stock. Bummer.
I then took the approach to modify my SM1001 TX Module to accept a standard 2.4Ghz RP-SMA Screw on type antenna. Minor milling of the Spektrum case was required, but worth it to prevent this from holding up the show down the road. Plus, it allows me to test/use various gain antennas moving forward.
Required:
Dremmel/Rotary Tool
4" RP-SMA -to-> IPEX (similar to: http://www.adafruit.com/products/852)
2ea. Flat Washers
Once the case is opened, you will find the iPEX end of the coax antenna wire is pretty easy to remove by lifting upward on it to release it from being snapped into position. Then remove the swivel portion of the damaged antenna post. Mill away the tube portion where the original antenna was mounted on both the top and Inside areas do the top cover. Place one washer over the threaded RP-SMA termination. Slip the threaded portion of the Reverse-Polarity SMA (RPSMA) connection from the inside of the top cover. Install the 2nd flat washer over the threads of connector, then install the supplied nut. You may want to add loc-tite or RTV to the shaft of the threaded connector before the nut is secured. Gently tighten the nut while using a second wrench on the bottom side. Carefully install the smaller right angle IPEX end of the coax cable by pressing it onto the PCB and carefully reassemble the case while watching the routing of the cable around the stacked/layered PCBs - don't forget the plastic riser for the bind button.
Completed setup with spare 2.4ghz 5dBi Gain antenna installed (as a test)...
So far so good. I tested range and I have no complaints with either a 3dbi or 5dBi Gain antenna installed. No glitches and as far as I could see, I had control without boundaries/limitations.
I hope this helps.
