In the last final Ronald was held up a little by victor's car and was frustrated by that in the post race interview. He wasn't sand bagging, just not as quick on the day. The TRF also had the fasted race time and best lap.

The most important thing is that the drivers seem to be really positive, as a Team TRF are really strong when on a roll and it only means that we should have should have an interesting battle at the worlds.

Let's not forget, Yok has had a large entourage at all the race meetings, tamiya has just had their drivers up until this year when they have stepped up the support again and the team has unsurprisingly increased their pace.

Marc with a good car and some new found confidence seems like a bad idea to me...I mean based on his previous three World Championship titles.

I would think that handing the world another lose would have worked a little better in Yokomo's favor. Think about how crushed the team would have been if they still lost to Ronald even with all of their new little upgrades. That would have sent a much bigger message in my opinion.
+1
And to have Hara and the other Yok drivers throw the race, must been one heck of a game plan.

I remember Joel Johnson once talking about a Cleveland race and he said and I quote "I didn't come here to race the competition, I came here to bury them!", LOL. (best line ever).

Yokomo is a major sponsor of the ets and Ronald, Yannick are pretty much driving distance to the track. Giving a competitor a false sense of confidence is always an option when you know you are not giving maximum effort and can still make them push. Just my silly opinion, Tamiya has made great progress recently and if I were in Yokomo's shoes I would do exactly that. Make them think they have the goods to win in October.

Whether they shows us the new goodies or not, will not make December come any sooner for new version lol.

You won't see stuff all until the worlds at the earliest - and possibly not until the car is released. In the past the redrc site has had detail chassis shots, they will come in time.

For example, just as the 418 was released: http://ets.redrc.net/2013/11/chassis...rc-rheinard-2/

Maybe. I can't see it though. There is an argument for it - false sense of security, but......

Agreed. Demoralising MR by having him not win a race for the whole season and sending him back home whinging and making noise at TRF to make the car better and chase their tail etc would be ideal.

Him brimming with confidence is not so good. To quote a message sent to me once "The guy could put a TA02 into the AMain".

I do wonder if Wilck's F2 run was the actual sandbagging. He went from slowest car in F2 holding up the whole pack while MR ran away to fastest car in F3. Could have just been tyres of course.....

If they win the worlds we will see it immediately and it will be released as the 418WE/V6pretty soon after (with December delivery)

If they don't win the worlds, it will be released as the 418X around November (with December delivery)

That's my guess anyway.

In some respects, an X may well be better than a WE/V6 for the average punter *if* the car that wins the worlds has some sort of odd setup that worked specifically for the track and the tyres. Look at the V5, what proportion of people that ran/run them have the aeration shocks and the narrower B suspension blocks simply sitting in their kit box most of the time

If Ronald had been sandbagging, I think it would have been very difficult to hide it in practice. His lap times there were on par with the other top guys. Without having someone to follow around, it's likely he would have been faster or slower than the pace of the top guys lap to lap. I know Ronald is amazing, but that would be quite a feat. Also, at the end of A3 he tried to snipe Victor at the line after not being able to pass the entire race. Maybe that was just frustration, who knows.

Perhaps Hara was sandbagging. Or maybe he just wanted his 3rd consecutive B-main appearance.

He wanted to save tyre costs. It's expensive to travel from Japan. More money for beers at the airport.

418 has done well at rounds 4, 5 and 6.

They were faster in the later finals at rounds 4 and 5 just didn't start the event off as well.

They will be strong at the worlds.

It's all a Conspiracy I'm tell'n ya!
Ronald's laptimes and throttle control is all about luring TRF into a false sense of security. And Hara is being paid to deliberately focus on the "B" to mess with Andy. These are the facts!!!

Anyone ran the new black TRF large diameter springs yet?

They are the same wire size, the same coil count, the same free length, and the same inside and outside diameter. In fact, the only thing that isn't the same....

They are wound the opposite direction from the HPI ones.

Anybody?
