Quick question, with Pit Shimizu wet tires, do you guys use the standard foam inserts or a moulded insert?

I run med wheelbase but I am curious if anyone has tried running short wheelbase with the new 1 degree aluminum rear suspension mount?
If so what results?

If you're referring to the to the 60D series of tires, The Tamiya hard foam insert seems to be the best. Unfortunately. you should contact or rubber cement the ends together. Shimizu makes an insert that you don't have to do that with, but IMO is too soft. The insert that comes with the tire should be discarded.

Use the 456 or 454 in front, and the 454 or 452 in the rear. Te 450 for some reason just does not work.

Anyone know if there is a Cooling fan setup for the 03 and the 05?

+1 Shimizu inserts are horrible. Discard them. I use the sweep inserts with Shimizu's. They come in soft, medium and hard

Is very promising. My original setup was garbage, but upon installing just new chassis and suspension bits the car seemed to carry abit more corner speed.

After a few coaching session from a local M05 guru this lil racer is very pleasant to drive.. Stays really flat in the corners. Still easy to drive and takes quite a bit to unsettle it.

Looking forward to putting more laps on it..

For the M03, the best solution is to silicone or Shoo Goo it to the chassis.

M05---3Racing makes a fan set up that most of the guys around here are using.

Right now, since we are trying to simulate the speeds of the new Spec motor for the Finals, fans are not necessary. We're having to back down the timing considerably. For example, I've turned the R1 to 20 from close to 50. I'm still playing with the Killshot, but that one turned down about 20 degrees.

It's going to be interesting to see what the rules are going to be for TCS Mini racing will be for next year. For myself, I hope we dial down the motors a bit cause these "cranked" 21.5 motors are too fast for the vast majority of us.

I believe he's talking about this being the last year for the M03's eligibility.

Fans are easy on the M05. You just need a fan, spacer, and a longer screw. tip: I use a little thread lock on the screw so that I don't have to over tighten the fan screw and cause binding in the steering arm. Also a dab of shoe goo inside the fan hole so it doesn't spin.

Greetings Markus. Thanks for the tip with the fan- out of curiosity, have you shimmed the plastic steering pieces? Upon building my M05(v1), before applying the servo link, the area of the steering linkage as well as the mounts had alot of slop. Are you contending, at all, with slop?

ATM I'm throwing all idea's at the v2. I have the plastic parts on because I am hell bent on using a full size battery pack. I've been taking off all of the aluminum pieces and weighing them against their plastic counterparts. if the plastic is is lighter, it stays on the car for the most part.

To answer your question though, I have not tried to remove the slop. I'm a long time Tamiya plastic car racer and I find that the car settles into its pieces and becomes 'Sloptimized'. There is a point were the loose parts effect the performance to where I can notice it. (It takes a lot for me to notice) that's when I replace the plastic parts that are worn. So I don't usually shim, I replace plastics. Also, I use a futaba 9550 steering servo which is overkill for mini but it is not a torque monster by any means. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the aluminum steering arms take care of most of the slop.

I was thinking today that you guys running fans may not have to anymore, given the tamer spec motors in the pipeline. I know of no one here using one, with our similarly species systems. But, with the new chassis tucking the motor in, it could become a thing again.

Speaking of the V2, has anyone tried building it using the plastic motor plate? I'm curious to know if I'm wrong about it being wrong.
