Can anyone tell me if there is really any difference between a something like a $100 radio and a $550 radio?

e.g Futuba 2pl and 4px

What I mean is how will a more expensive radio help you to become a better driver?

I cant help thinking that there is really only 4 actions forward, backwards, left and right, surely its more about getting used to the radio you have and learning how to manage the tensions within the trigger and wheel?

I mean the difference between a 17.5t and a 6.5t motor is undeniable, all other things being even the 6.5t will beat a 17.5t and just not sure the same holds true for these expensive radios...

Big difference features and ergonomics. If you just a basher the. Anything will work. I went from the 3pl to the 4pls and what a difference. It's more comfortable the wheel is more precise. I don't use the advanced features but I do run 3 cars off it.

The biggest difference is features, response time and adjustability. The higher end radios will allow an experience user to fine tune steering and throttle curve, EPA, dead band, left or right handed wheel position among other things. There are many reviews on radios, do your research and see what applies to you.

not saying a better radio will make you a better driver by any means...but once you reach a certain point, a lower end radio can restrict you to a point because of the "lag" in time. a radio is the most expensive investment you will make. choose wisely.

Just finished up the Top Gun Challenge at Sdrc and met Kurt Wenger from Schelle racing. I got a sneak peek at the new shorty pack conversion using the Aluminum chassis. Let's say very dialed!

I have been running a Schelle Nova which is little stronger than stock without any wear issues. Is your mesh set properly?

I haven't seen a way to enclose the spur gear to keep pebbles out so if you race on a gravely track the best thing you can do is check the spur after every run and kick the pebbles out with a pick or whatever you have. Also a steel pinion... not that it will help the spur but it will last longer than aluminum at an outdoor track.
