FIA/WEC Spirit of Le Mans Contest Runner Up
WEC has a photo contest each year for non pros shooting from public areas. Each race of the year has a winner and they all go into the finals. The grand prize was a trip to Brazil last weekend for the last race and awards banquet all expenses paid. The two runner up spots won VIP tickets for next years race at their track. My shot won the Austin round and placed runner up in the finals.

I'd been trying them all day pretty much. No penalty since the single shots are good for processing as well. Sequences are hard to get right. If you are shooting too fast there will be too many cars and becomes hard to get them in the right spots behind and ahead of each other. You end up throwing away shots and that always leads to gaps. I shot probably 20 and got 2 decent ones. Its funny a lot of people think its a parade of Ferrari's
Its just one 4 shots made into a mosaic and using layer masks to make everything look right. Can't wait till next year. Those passes are just a shade over a grand apiece. Gourmet food and beer all day for free. Awesome seats although I'll probably not spend a lot of time in them. Going to treat myself to a 7D MkII for that race. Its an awesome sports camera.
I'm 2 for 2 now. I've entered 2 contests and came in runner up in both. Don't like 2nd place that much but I'll take it. Picked up a 70-300 lens for the last one.

Something Different
Recently I put together a tracking mount so I could shoot some deep space stuff. This is 55 images shot over a couple of days with a 7DMkII.
Something to do between race weekends. They are very hard to do. Lots of things to go wrong.
