Yea the rear gear box is pretty much the only weakness i've found on the Tekno's, and most of that was due to a bad batch, but haven't heard of the Truggies having rear dif case issues. (or anyone else in the last month or so)

Making the move from indoor SC to outdoor truggy was not very kind on my ET. I had tons of upside down landings. I only bent a front shock shaft, ok with me beacause I wanted to replace them with the TiNi shafts anyway.

The ones we've sold so far have been very tough to date, most are saying they have minimal wear etc and take a good hit, not to mention very smooth driveline, the nitro truggy is going especially good with no changes at all from book setup ;-)

Cheers Justin

ok havent read much on the mechanical braking system.. Does anyone use this? It seems like a good idea in theory. Being able to apply braking bias to either the front or back brakes and reducing temps is a good idea. But I see nobody using it. So I ask whats the deal? Good? Bad?

We use to have a track on our backyard that looked a lot like that. We use to call it the Revo killer. Hehehehe Takes a mans (tekno) rig to use our track day after day unless you had a bucket full of parts. Please Traxxas guys don't attack, I've been their too!

Been there done that, it works but not needed imo in the et48, it's so light and handles so good about the only time I touch the brakes are in mid air. Once I gets used the track jumps I run lots of laps without touching the brakes. So why add the extra weight. I ran mine today on a 100'x80' 1/8 track , always set my timer during practice at 12 mins, ambient temps were in the mid 70s and my motor never got over 135 degrees. So I don't see a need for ME to run an extra servo plus gear for brakes. But I drive a bit different than some, if I want to slow down quick I'll throw the truck sideways an most of the time don't touch the brakes, you'll slow down real fast. Not saying it won't work for you, depends a lot on your driving style. If your the guy that hammers the brakes at every turn then mechanical brakes might be perfect for you!

The track's not bad, but it's going to get a complete makeover here soon. Well hopefully soon...been so busy lately I haven't even had time to even run my RC's. I plan on raising the track up so the water don't keep washing it out and also plan on spreading the gap on my trick jump apart at least another 15 feet or so. I keep over shooting the landing with the big tricks.

Ya I agree, if you want a real basher...Tekno is definitely the way to go!!!

Hey guys,

I have my kit built as far as I can go with it until my motor and ESC arrive this week. Went together really nice except for the shims when installing the front and rear difs into the cases. I wish I had gone back and read page one again as I bent a couple of them pretty bad trying to get them in place.

Did anyone find that a few of the screws with smaller heads were were machined off a bit, allowing a lot of play around your allen head driver? I don't remember exactly but it seems like the ones I had a problem with were 2mm for the driver.

I'm using an old set of Losi drivers and they all seemed to fit perfectly when I built my Associated buggy a month ago.

Early batches had the bad rear diff housing,, mine did not snap in a race, but I tested it by screwing into the holes where the braces go, if you drop that mounts screw in 1/2 way and the material splits, it's bad... you should only see some stretch marks or discoloration not a split in the material. Good test.

Short answer yes it fits; but it will take a couple tweaks,, search this thread way back for the details and pictures. Two easy ways to make it work.

Will a Gen 2 RX8 run two high-powered Servo's, or would you have to run an external BEC?

Depends on max amp draw of those servos. Add that together and compare to what the rx8 bec puts out to be safe. In practice, a servo seldom draws max amps as it is not usually at full load.
