Default Tennessee State Championship

This past weekend we attended the Tennessee State Championships held at ROCCK Raceway in knoxville, TN. The guys at ROCCK did an awesome job at promoting and filling the race, and with over 150 entries they brought in some of the fastest guys on the east coast. I raced in the Pro Buggy and Pro E-Buggy class this past weekend, with good results. I was able to TQ in E-buggy and qualify second overall in Pro Buggy. At the end of the 10 min e-buggy main I was able to come away with the win, and after the 30 min main in pro buggy i would finish 2nd overall. The track was awesome all weekend and the competition was close. I was running the CRE Keep-Off 4 with 41021/2096 combo, which really smooths out the engine and makes it super controllable in buggy. The CRE engines continue to impress me with their reliability and longevity, and I can't wait to see the nova .19 that these guys are putting together. Thanks again CRE for all the help and support, and hope to see some of you guys at PNB!

My P5 is a very nice running engine....tons of power, great RPM range... all around very potent race engine............ The 28-7 however is much more powerful... its quite smooth for its power output, but by all standards its an absolute beast ....By feel it feels about 40% bigger then the P5, and unlike most 28's it has a full RPM range with a great top end....

Well my truggy is all re built ready for a 3 day event next weekend, so I thought I would throw the clocked Novarossi Virtus .21 into my Xray XB8 buggy and head to the track to get a little more fuel through the engine before the event, first off I cant believe how smooth this engine is in the buggy for a 7 port, tons of bottom end power running the buku and just over 1/2 gallon through the engine and its still pinching so I have the tune a little rich running around the 180f - 190f mark in these video's.

Wow that looks great Sam.... Definitely a nice powerband so far.... thank you for taking the time to post that video.....Will be interesting to see how it runs once it fully drops its nuts...I will say I am nicely surprised at how smooth it looks in Buggy....

Looking good Sam! Some nice driving to boot! Time to lean her out a bit, 190* seems low for a Nova engine. But you already know that

Is it smooth like the Clocked B6 (or Clocked FX for that matter)?

I talked with Sam last night.... he says the bottom is still quite rich and needs to be triggered a little clear out, but so far he says the engine has ridiculous amounts of grunt and could easily pull more gear..He let a few others drive it and they all thought it was quite smooth and easy to drive...Now of course its still rich and tight, so performance is going to change some and become somewhat stronger......

I was very surprised how easy it cleared jumps on a track that's completely blown out, jumps faces have made clearing some jumps hard but this engine even rich made easy work of it and the buku clutch in this engine was strong and smooth at the same time if that makes sense, first time on the track with the engine too so I had the needles a little rich just to be careful till I consider the engine completely broken in ready for a race tune.

Transplanted in the truggy now and ready for a plane ride on Thursday morning for 3 day event interstate so the race tune is right around the corner now and cant wait to unleash the beast.

Opening day in northern VA this weekend. Awesome RC was the place. 25 buggies were entered for the day. Had some good qualifying laps but couldn't put together a good full run. Came down to the last qualifier and pulled out a overall 8th in the A. Car was dialed by then. Right choice in tires and compound, motor was running good, and I found a good rythum in the main early. Worked my way to 5th for most of the race. As the sun was setting, the moisture was coming up out of the track and air temps started to drop. CRE mill ran great all night. I ran my fastest laps in the main at 24.9. top 10 average was a 25.2 and top 20 average was a 25.4. Pit timing was not a concern for a 25 minute main so it was a 2 stopper at about the 8:30 mark. So concentrated on my race, I didn't realize with 3 minutes to go I moved into 3rd about 18 seconds ahead of the local hot shoe. At the end, I kept it together and finished on the podium. Great motors and only had to touch the needles to adjust for the altitude. Thanks CRE.

So I'm really liking the RB Blast. Very nice engine. Raced it yesterday at Hobby Hut and it was chilly out to say the least but I never had to touch the needles. No flame outs, no fussy idle and more power than I could say grace over. Big power but extremely manageable. Still has metal pinch and I kept it a little rich with great fuel mileage. We ran a 20 min main and I pitted just after 10 min with this much fuel left.
