Tekin switches hardly ever fail. Every time I have seen someone think this was the problem and removed it, sure enough the problem still came back.

Yup im gonna clear the data log too for tomorrow and check it out.

Running a HD4300 motor. 17t pinion. Indoor track. Im not sure if my servo can handle 7.4v though. its the Savox 1258TG.

That's geared high by about a tooth probably. Also, you mentioned under braking going into a turn which I am assuming you are turning your wheels at that point also. I do run my 1258's at 7.4 without issue. Some will tell you not too, but I have not had a single issue running them this way in nitro cars. I know others have done it also. If manufacturers were truthful and held to standards this would not be such a guessing game. Somethings in this hobby are nothing more than a marketing game and I am not completely sold that high voltage servos is not one of them. Friends had tekin install brand new esc at motorama and he had the same issue. Brought back in to Jeremy Potter and they set it to 7.4 and all issues went away.

Interesting. What exactly will setting it to 7.4v do anyway? Im not 100% clear on what the bec does.. Wouldnt setting it to a higher voltage to the servo drain the voltage in the battery faster? or what?

I noticed that i have some backlash play in the center drive cups im going to take the diffs out anyways and refill them i noticed some leaking . The manuel does not say if you should have some play in the drive output cups but i usually do it with no play.

So should it be ok to set it with no back and forth play ? I dont like having play in them because of extra wear and noise.

It's a battery eliminating circuitry that allows you to power servos, transponders and receivers off of a single battery and eliminate the need of a receiver pack. The savox servos are known for needing a higher voltage. Actually at the higher voltage it should drain less of your battery. Your battery drain is the current and when you keep resistance the same and increase voltage, current has to go down.

So by setting it to 7.4v it will allow more power to the servo correct? By it being at 6.0v right now what is it doing thats causing the ESC to shut down and restart?

When the servo draws too much, the receiver usually suffers and loses signal. The receiver is normally causing the esc restart.

I agree to a point, as if you think about running higher voltage in your SC without changing the gearing, or the KV of the motor, the result is higher speed, higher load, higher amperage, and more voltage sag at the higher voltage because it's trying to go faster therefore more load, I think high voltage servos are geared more appropriately among other variables. If you're getting away with it that's great, but personally I recently had some problems with glitching in mine with a Savox 2271(high voltage) and a Castle 10amp BEC set at 7.5V, I had to turn it down to 7V to clear it up. This only happened after switching over to a DX4R Pro, may have had something to do with that even though it was the same reciever......
I did also try a new BEC and that wasn't it, and the frame rate automatically sets according to the receiver's capability.
Higher voltage is only more efficient when you offset it with changes in KV/turns, or gearing, regaurdless if it's a motor or a servo.

Also, I run the same motor with a gen1 RX8 and a 17 tooth in cool weather indoors without even a hint of a problem, but my batts may be better.

Ahhhhh I see what your saying now. Makes sense actually... the Servo is limited to 6v.. When I put my fully charged battery in, the truck runs perfect for about 5 min, at which time the battery is obviously at a lower voltage now. (especially since its a 5000mah battery) at around this point when I reach the long straight im going full throttle and immediately hitting the brakes hard and turning into the corner and this is ALWAYS when the ESC shuts down and resets the first time. after it restarts the truck drives fast and hard still for another 20 seconds and shuts down again. And now that I remember correctly it does it every time just as I hit the brakes and turning into a corner...

Man I hope you are correct about this. I will be one happy guy if this is the issue. Im gonna go hook up the hotwire and change it to 7.4v and give it a try tomorrow with my fingers crossed.

The gen2 esc only has two settings. 6.0 or 7.4. Anytime we had to add a glitch buster to a gen1 rx8, the esc failed within a month. We have been running tekin from the beginning and as soon as any glitch happens now, it goes back to tekin. That's three cars once a week for about 46 weeks a year. The 1/8th esc's have a come a long way in the past 4 years.

I am looking at getting a Tekno SCT410. I currently have an Orion R10 Pro 160A. Is this suitable for most of the 4 pole motors to run in this truck? Or do I need to get something like the RX8 or HW SCT PRO?

I have the hobbywing equivalent in a durango desc410 with a tekin 4000 4 pole and it works fine. I do use the fan with mine too. I am not sure about anything bigger than that.
