any pics of the track? if your using badlands you probably could use some suspension tuning (i.e. more travel, softer springs/shock oil) some lighter diff fluid and a c-diff could also help

If your ESC had timing features like boost, I could make some suggestions there too, but if you are new, may be easier to just work with another motor.

Not sure what your ESC can handle though.
Would i be better off getting a mamba max pro sct 3800 kv setup for this truck? would that be too much for the belt drive system? I currently run around 130-150F on average for my temps. would going up a few teeth on the pinion give me that much more noticeable speed?

The 3800 combo is probably one of the most popular combos for the sc10 4x4 right now, that or the rx8/pro4 combo. Currently I am running a tenshock 401 4400 kv with the tenshock esc(soon to be rx8) and it is a beast and its cheaper .
I paid like $120 for the combo

I'm running this combo in mine on asphalt oval and it is scary fast. Had to put some exponential throttle in it to keep from over driving it. It came with the 3800 motor and I robbed the MMP out of one of my other cars I wasn't running so cost wasn't as big a factor. Center diff going in today.

I don't see an issue. increasing pinion size will give more speed. There are several calculators out there to give you an idea of where you are at right now, versus where the change will put you.

I would recommend a fan though as the sc10 4x4 doesn't seem to have as much cooling as other vehicles.

Got it from RCShox.

http://www.rcshox.com/sc1044-center-dif-v2/

Ran it tonight and it made a lot of difference in cornering.

The RC Shox Center Diff as well as the M2C Rear Toe in Block made the most difference in my opinion in the performance of my SC10 4x4 when I was still running one.

Hopefully if AE revises the platform they look into incorporating something similar into the vehicle.

I just installed the Exotek slipper thing. I tested in the house and it made my clicker click. Hadnt heard the sound before because it was always locked suprised me a little. The exo slipper definitely put more of the power to the front wheels. I had to tighten the clicker a little more to lock it down. Got the hubs on also they are really nice. Testing tomorrow.

I feel like I am late to the game here having just gotten a sc10 4x4. All you guys are burned out of its short comings and I am just getting excited lol.

honestly, The sc10 4x4 with the right mods is a great vehicle in my opinion. If it wasn't for wanting to share parts with my Tekno EB48 initially I would probably have kept mine.

And now with that 4 gear testing Shark is doing, building on what RC Shox started to do, it would fix pretty much the last handling issue in my opinion.

After that, its just quirks of the car like dissassembly time, etc. Things I think AE could revisit and revise in the vehicle.

Thanks for the great info, after a few small problems when i first got my truck (rear diff needed shim and steering servo broke after I flipped it) I have had no problems. Does the rc shox center diff fit put more strain on the belt drive? I had mine click and tightened it down all the way, is this ok?

Don't feel bad, all the guys I run with tell me i shoulda got a slash like them and knock on the belt drive system. We run demolition derby style on the backyard track and having the only non traxxas truck I have a target and it keeps on running lol. Did you get the rtr version?

SC10 4x4 is pretty durable.

never had an issue with the belt drive. You do need to make sure your gear mesh is set well, use blue loctite on the screws that hold the motor in place.
