I have one that when turned on, all the lights blink and there is no throttle. Is it fixable?

Mine did that once when I was bench-testing it using a FrSky radio system. Since I put an OrangeRX DSM receiver back in it, I've had no issues. According to HK's website, you're not the only person to have this problem either.

Hello, thought of getting the Turnigy Trackstar 120A Turbo Sensored Brushless 1/12th 1/10th ESC (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._10th_ESC.html) with Turnigy Trackstar 8.5T Sensored Brushless motor (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...or_3983KV.html) for my 1/10 2wd buggy. Is it a good combo? Also saw there are 2 types Turnigy Trackstar motor but 2 different price, any different between both other than KV rating? Thanks in advance. Cheers...

The only difference I see besides the kv is that the lower kv one has a fan built in the front end Bell. I'd Get the higher kv motor without the fan it should be faster.

Was able to get mine to work. Turns out it was calibrated incorrectly. Re-posting this post from another thread because it saved me a ton of headache!

Below is a calibration procedure posted by user Ph3nyx:

Calibration Procedure trackstar
Successfully tested on the 80A trackstar

1 push the setup button (the one that is placed on the switch) and turn the switch on. Wait until the LED turns solid yellow.

2 stayneutral and press the setup button
- The yellow LED flashes and then turns off
- The orange LED light on

3 push full throttle then press the setup button
- The orange LED flashes and then turns off
- The red LED light on

4 push full brakes and press the setup button
- The red LED flashes and then turns off

All flash and it is configured

I got that speed control and the other 8.5 motor (higher kv) in my B4.2.
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...or_4620KV.html
I've ran two races with them and other than reverse being quirky, the throttle is very smooth and there when I need it. Plenty of power, readily available. I'm thinking about ordering a second set for my T4 and starting to run the mod truck class with it. And when I get my B44.2, i'll be putting one in there as well.

Try turning down your endpoint for brake/reverse. I had to dial mine back in order to get reverse to work consistently.

Thanks for the tip. I hope to get my B4.2 soon and will be thinking of getting a budget motor/esc combo and seems that the Turnigy is the way to go. My B44.2 is equip with SP Pro with 6.5T motor and its pretty fast. Can't afford to get another SP Pro so the Turnigy will be it after good reviews from you guys. Thanks again...Cheers

I ran my new 120A turbo last weekend in my Team C 2wd buggy with a 10.5 trackstar motor. Everyone I knew was running 8.5's so I dialed up boost and turbo before even hitting the track. I ended up turning off turbo and only running 10 deg boost timing which is nothing. Motor and esc ran 115 degrees or less all weekend and was stupid fast. Reverse is inconsistent as mentioned earlier but I don't need it.

I just got a tlr 22-4 and decided to try out a Turnigy Trackstar 120A turbo esc and 5.5. All I can say is wow. I'm totally surprised how smooth power delivery is and how controllable (for a 5.5 turn motor) it is. Does anyone know how the drive frequency setting affects power delivery? There were a few other settings on the programmer that I didn't fully understand but I can't recall right now...

What is a safe operating temperature for the esc's? I temped mine on a couple of runs and it was around the 120 degree F mark.

same as the BH since its a v2.1 clone also. The turbo v2 is a v3.x clone and again same size as the HW v3.x

Meh, why do people insist on using 150% throttle epa, lol. set it to what ever you feel like and calibrate. after calibration if you try to increase it, you will probably impose issues. no mater what you wont go faster
