I had also geared the new motor so I'd have the same top speed. Actually I gained a couple mph, which should reduce the torque and bring up the temp. I don't know about the hobbywing system, I do know you get what you pay for in my experience.
I've run most.. including a few rx8's, and I'd take the hobbywing 150a over a rx8 (either version) any day and every day of the week. Not only smoother, but they don't break down like the rx8's even the new versions.. those puppy's still pop more than ANY 1/8 esc even after years of revisions. So in this case you get more for less :P

Tekin does make some of the best darn motors around at this point though. Good stuff indeed.

That's why i skimped out on the rx8 and just bought their motor. I think the xerun 150 would be the best 8th scale esc if it was smaller and came with a decent 2 wire switch.

DEX408T body on the the ET48. Details of how plus more pics HERE. The body is not fully cut yet.

Yes there is a huge gap on each side. I'll take care of that with lexan mud guards later.

If you are only doing 4s setups you can always get the SCTpro esc. But you are limited to 4s. It only took 2seconds to make my 150a fit though.. I do like how those other guys re-routed the wires in the case though.. creative approach for sure.

+1 on the HobbyWing Xerun ESC's. Been running multiple Xerun's for 2+ years now without issue. Only ESC I will run. Also, I always run an external Castle 10 amp BEC on any 1/8th scale or 4wd short course.

As previous poster said, if running 4s go with the SCT-Pro. It's smaller and allows you to shoe goo the Castle BEC to the side of the ESC and still fit in the "hole" where the ESC goes on the Teknos. With the Xerun 150 amp you would need to mount the BEC somewhere else.

That external bec maybe a little overkill :P LOL the xeruns bec's don't have issues, I have 400oz+ servo's that don't even make it sweat Most don't run the BEC on the sctpro either but it is added protection for sure as it is often needed if you savox servo's, they are sooo inefficient, they can take out most built in bec's in no time. That is another NEVER do,, NEVER buy Savox. :P

What brands do you guys suggest...ones that will hold up to some hard beating and that are real efficient?
I personally have been running Savox for about 3 years and haven't had no problems. I also run the novak glitch buster with them though. I do know they take a lot of power, but with the glitch buster there's no problems. Although the biggest I've ran is the SC1256TG which is 277oz. I would like 400+ servo for my truggy.

+1 external BEC is a must for me, no worries and high voltage servos is worth the 20 bucks

I have ran all savox servos for well over a year now with no issues. This is the servo I plan to run in my truggy. https://www.nitrohouse.com/Savox-SA-...oz_p_4168.html I looked at the hitech and it is impressive but I have not had any issues with savox.

I've been using the same servo in my Tekno converted v4 d8t for that last two years, now it's serving duty in my ET48. Great servo and this one doesn't need a glitch buster.

With the rx8 gen2, I run hv servos without issue, no bec, no glitch buster, and with my spectrum rx.
What's in my most recent eb48 is a protek 150t, which is .1/345@6 and .08/[email protected]
If you want even higher/faster, their new 170s team edition is silly specs, that's one I'd consider running on just 6v.

I really like that one. I have a silver theme on all my kits and it's faster and more torque then the hitech. I think I will get 2 one for my buggy and one for the truggy.
