I would like to see the videos.

So if I am reading it right, the truck comes with the 44T spur gear. And it appears the lowest pinion size being fit is about a 14T correct?

Is it possible on the truggy to use a larger spur?

using the rc asylum script top speed calculator, unless I am looking at it wrong, putting in 4 for the diff ratio, 44T for the spur, 14T pinion and the 2000Kv Tekin motor (rated on that site at 2100Kv), you are basically at 42mph theoretical (using Proline LPR Crimefighter tires)

Am I doing something wrong in my calculations?

Right now, seems a lower Kv motor, say the 1700Kv Truggy one from Tekin if you are so included gives a better gearing range from the 35mph to 40mph range.

No way am I going to grind on my nice motor mount, taking a tiny off of the dif brace doesn't really hurt any thing and with a 14t pinion you can't see where you were grinding. I figured it was either that or buy an lower kv motor. I still might do that after I check motor temps in hot weather.

Yes, truck diffs are 4, 44.

I just checked mine and imo a bigger spur won't fit without doing something really crazy to your chassis or raising the dif , no way would I do that. I came up with the same calculations as you did. You could be right on the money with a 1700kv motor. I've raced my Tekno v4 converted d8t with both a 1600 and a 1800kv motor, both worked real well. I was use the 1600 on big slick tracks and if the bite was better I would use the 1800. Darn you, now I'm thinking about buying another motor. LOL

Yeah, that is what I am thinking. I am wanting to try vipers new line of motors if I pick one of these up. I was hoping to run say the 1900Kv motor but even that is still a higher Kv than I would care to run with the given gearing range.

As it sits, who all makes 1/8 motors other than tekin in Kvs lower than 1900 that are sensored? looking at amain, I see:

- Orion at 1750Kv in buggy and truggy length
- Trinity at 1750kv buggy length?
- Reedy at 1800kv buggy length?

Has anyone tried a Buggy length motor in the 1700 kv range on the truggy?

I can say that it's a fact, it will not mount to the body posts. It's close in the back, but no prayer in the front. That said, I WILL make it fit.

Hobbywing has an 1800. I use that in my RC8.2e.

thats the conditions for one track I would run at if I get to go. wouldn't be this vehicle though as they don't run the class, but its nice to see what someone does in that kind of condition!
