17 flat was the fastest I went with your silver can Granpa, and that was hustling the mini on clean, tight, no scrub lines...the BL guys were doing that cruising middle of the track.

Yeah Rod, and that particular motor might be a tic faster than a TCS legal Silvercan. Best I did that day was a 17.3 and most were in the 17.5 range. Just goes to show what a good driver can do with a Mini, cause my car is a few tenths better than yours. But since that was the first time out for your car, I'm not braggin'.

On our carpet the kit tyres come in a poor second against the M-Grips. We aren't allowed additives though.

Not necessarily imho... they're not that hard and minis dont go as fast as touring cars so the dynamics are a bit different. the harder inserts helps the tire retain its shape especially around corners... keeping a fuller, more usable contact patch. Softer inserts might fold "more" during corners giving the tendency for the car to "hook".

Nope, that I still have to pick up along with some paint. I'm still undecided on the Tamiya or Kimbrough one...I guess whatever they have in stock.

I've used the Tamiya hop up servo saver and alloy horn on my M05 for a while now and even after lots of crashes it's still pretty tight.

I'd be interested to hear how the Kimbrough performs though.....

In an M05 I wouldn't use anything else but the Kimbrough. It centers better and has less lash. In a M03 the Tamiya one has some advantages because it's easier to get the bump steer right.

Kimbrough! I've got several Tamiya heavy duty models and find they get bound up one way or another, even with mild contact. I use Kimbrough in my 03 as well. Usually L or XL, re drilled/shaved down for proper alignment.
