Does anyone know the Tamiya part number for the tcs legal 60d radials?

#1016 for the S-Grips

#1028 & 1029 for the Type A slicks

Thank you Granpa trying to get my Dad something he can use for Christmas!

Most seem to like the #1016 premounts the best. In our locale, no one uses the slicks.

A question for you

So in silvercan form, and on carpet, and experienced driver(s) etc, what would you expect to lap fastest out of an M03, M05 or M06?

Just curious and not intending to cause a riot!

I race an 05 and my Dad drives an 03 and it seems like the 03 is faster than the 05 . At the tracks we ran at this past season with both the TCS series and the local races it seemed like the 03 really had the advantage over the 05s. We really haven't seen any 06's run yet so I cannot comment on them

M03 vs M05. We've had that debate here several times. The M03 wins most of the TCS races regardless of the track or surface. The TCS series uses a Spec 60D tire. This also may be cause most of the veteran Mini racers prefer the M03. In any case, pick one and stay with it cause they do set up differently.

I've been an advocate for the M03 after building a couple of M05s. Nice car, drives easy, sloppy steering that needs shimming, but it's just a little slow. With the 21.5 B/L motor rule tho, the M05 may warrant a second look for obvious reasons.

It's kind of an apples and oranges question. If there's loads of traction, the M06 might have a better chance, because it can take advantage of it more readily. Between the 03 and 05, I'd say it's a dead heat. Really depends on setup and driver.

Anyway...subject change... Anyone ever had to change their 500,000wt diff oil in the 3Racing gear diff yet? What colour was it when you opened up the diff? How do you get the old crap out?

I'm letting gravity do the cleaning at the moment and the oil is dark grey. Thoughts?

I built my 3 Racing diff with 5000cst and done about 7 or 8 nights racing. It still feels fairly tight but I'm looking to go to 100,000cst in the next few weeks.

I've heard of people using the 500,000cst, is that personal choice or does the diff really loosen up over time?

oil in the diffs will go black, its normal, as for cleaning i wouldnt bother just top it up, unless you plan to change thickness.

as for them getting loose, will be from oil leaking out of the out drives as the spin. no diff is 100% sealed

No leakage, but it did loosen a little. Most likely I didn't fill it completely when first built.

EDIT: Gravity did a fair job. Woke up this morning to mostly clean parts. Refilling the diff to a slightly higher degree than before, but hopefully not so high as to cause problems.

EDIT EDIT: how much do you guys fill them up? Do you go to the pins, as per instructions, or do you go the Paul Lemieux route and fill the whole cavity?

I use 300 000 weight and go to above the pins, but leave a small airgap. I also use lots of green slime on the o rings and gasket.
