Hello all,

Shock upgrade question:
I'm running the original VCS Macro shocks, and I HATE trying to refill and match them. I've got the Yokomo caps with bladders (no bleeder screw) on the front shocks which makes it a bit easier, but it's still a PITA.

Will the VCS2 upgrade kit make life any easier, or is it the same as the Yokomo caps? How about the Associated #6443 bleeder caps?

My main concern is ease of maintenance over performance. I'm bashing in parking lots with a few friends (also driving TC3s & 4s), and just want to get a consistent setup, even if it's not the best thing on the market.

Thanks!

I run a 55t 48p spur and can use 34-47t pinions which will get me anywhere from 4.04-2.93fdr.

Oh wow this is a totally different world than off road buggy lol. Going to take the shaft out and see which ones I have can't see the numbers and too lazy to count lol, bought it used so don't know too much of what's in it. It came with alot of ft parts in it and a good shape havoc and just put the 25.5 in tonight. I like the VTA class, can't wait to try it out. Thanks for your help.

You will need at least a 60t but a 55 is better, also you need to dremmel out the chassis webing under the the pinion for clearance.

Can't find the 55-60 spur anywhere unless I'm looking in all the wrong places. ....

Spent 5 hours today working on the TC3. Started out the day with repairing the right front control arm. Then I went out and ran several test runs with little changes. The biggest change I made was laying the front shocks down and it gave me more steering to help the mid corner push I had. I started out the day running 11.5-11.8. Top drivers in VTA are in the mid 10s. When I made my last 2 runs my 25 lap average was 11.25 with a best lap of 10.8. There's more yet in this TC3 but I don't think it's setup related now but more driver related.

Congrats, those are some nice gains! I had my best luck standing my front shocks up to get more immediate steering with a spool on carpet. It worked best with a rear shock tower on the front so I could stand my shocks up one hole further that you can with just the front shock tower.

I'd put a rear shock tower in the front but my current body won't allow it. I am however thinking about getting TC4 chassis braces and shock towers.

I wanted a more consistent feel with steering so I experimented with the front top shocks brought down to the bottom hole and inner hole on the control arm. So far I like the feel. Sunday the Hurricane series races at the track I go to so I'm totally hyped up for it.

I still need to get more practice in yet but it'll have to happen early Sunday morning before the event starts.

This week I'll be picking up a Tamiya TA-05 ARTR for VTA (mainly for TCS GT3) but if it does better then the TC3..... I just might convert over to it.

So how can I get the slop out of the TC3 steering?

Having an issue with the car not going straight every lap. 1 lap it goes straight, next lap it might wander left, next lap it'll wander right. No telling what it'll do every lap.

The steering rack I have right now is pretty much stock with the brass bushings.

I remember something about using a TC4 steering rack in a TC3 but I don't remember what needed to be done or if it's even worth the change.
