Sanyo 3000HV cells!

Help!
My lovely new HVs are false peaking!
Can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
The settings on my Millennium are:
6 cells,
6 amps,
linear charge,
trickle off
6mV per cell voltage threshhold
I have charged each pack up three times this week and discharged them on a 15 bulb discharger to 5.4 volts, just to wake up the cells before my first race with them (tonight) with no problems. Now I come to charge them up again and they false-peak at about 500 seconds.
Any input would be GREATLY appreciated

Blueboy: The Millenium is known to false peak especially if you use to low of a peak detect.
Set the peak detect to 12mv per cell and your problem should be solved.
By the way there is no need to cycle HV's before you race them. We have used them staright out of the packaging box at big races with great sucess.
Good Luck.

Thanks Danny.
My third pack is set to 12mv right now as suggested, but wont such a high setting heat the cells up too much? The other packs done at the low setting came off hotter than my 2400 used to, so wont the final pack come off even hotter?
Thanks again

Well that pack didn't false peak, it got hot but I could hold it in my hand so not too hot, and the numbers were:
9.74V
1591 secs
2692 mah.
Is it just me or this mah reading a bit low? all the other packs (before false-peaking) were about 3200.
anyway, thanks Danny for sorting the problem out.

Hi Danny just thought Id let you know how well I did with the HVs last night. For the first time ever I won the meeting! The actual result shows me second, but the guy who "won" was using a 12x2 in the stock class . He still only beat me by one lap though.
The HVs make an unbeleivable difference, on the same track as last week I got 5 extra laps! I think the gearing needs changing though because the motor was still accelerating at the end of the straight.
Just another SMC HV success story.

How did he get away with that?!

The best thing was that when i asked him about his motor he said he would put a stock in but he didn't have one. Now this guy has his own shop, which he brought with him and set up trackside, with about twenty different stock motors on a rack!
Oh well never mind, only one lap up on the fastest stocker means he isnt a very good driver anyway!

I am sure this has been asked before, but there are a ton of pages on this thread.
For everyone who has an Integy 16x5 charger, what settings do you use to charge you HV's at.
Thanks in advance.

Ive got a question today when i was discharging the 3000's packs they would make some hissing or slight noises only when i discharge does anyone know whats going on with the packs? are they going bad? whats up...

Sounds like the cells are venting.
When the cells get too hot the internal pressure rises.
In order to prevent the cell from exploding it releases some gas to reduce the pressure.
If your cells have vented they will never be as good again.
Often venting is a consequence of the pack having already gone bad as increased internal resistance causes the cells to get hotter.
3000's are more prone to venting simply because you are putting more energy through them than say 2000's over the same race distance.

when you say they will be never as good again does that mean they are still ok? or should make them practice packs instead of race packs? and how do you all discharge them? if you use the bulbs how many bulbs are there?
sorry for all the questions its just that ive been using 2000's and o havent had no problems i just went to 3000 for the more voltage

when you say 16x5 what do you mean? is it good to charge at such a high amperage?
sorry for asking i must sound like and idiot
