Go ahead with the 1700. Over the last two years I have been lowering the kv's in both my buggy and truggies. I run both indoors and outdoors on medium to large tracks. 1700 kv motors are plenty, just make sure you get the gearing right.

I run a 1950kv. You can see the new car in my videos. Just look up jason r/c or tlr 8ight-e 3.0 on youtube. Judge your track size to mine for indoor. If your track is smaller I'd go to a 1700kv. Honestly unless its the backstraight I never go above quarter throttle. If you can tame the power go bigger.

Your track appears to be slightly bigger then the two I race at, straight is about 100ft. After some reading I did find that one of our local pros also typically uses a 1700kv from tekin. Which also makes me feel a little better. I can't help that I am a typical power hungry American.

what I ended up picking up is a Orion r8 pro and a Mr8 1750. I seriously hope that works out.

are you topping out on that back straight?

If the track is smaller a 1700 should be perfect I had a 1900 in my 2.0 last winter and it was almost to much. Woulda bought a 1700 for my new 3.0 but I got the tekin indoor motor which is smoother so I decided to stick with the 1900 since its more "manageable" power.. Either way you'll have fun but in all honesty if your track is small your lap times will prolly be better with the 1700 slow is fast

Hey Jason, my name is Jack Wolf. I go to leisure hours also, we met earlier in the summer. I just got my 3.0, and was sealing up that novarossi at the track. Well I picked up the 8ight E 3.0 for the indoor track only. I prefer my 8ight 3.0 nitro for outdoor, a lot of fun. I want to get a Tekin power system, I'm leaning toward the T8i models. What do you think? I run a 4s venom pack, 5300 70c. Weighs in at 561g. Do I need to run shorty packs? Does it defeat the purpose of running the T8i with a heavier pack? I'm on the fence, I know some of our fast guys are running the heavier setup with 4s and regular 1900kv. Anyone want to chime in, I can use the help.

Well then I guess I will stick with the 1700 and see how things go.

any suggestions on gearing? I was guessing a 16t pinion?

The T8i is not made for heavy cars. It is made for lighter cars. Therefore, a heavy pack will likely overwork the T8i and shorten the life or not provide the performance you are looking for. If you want to use big packs, get the big motor T8 Gen 2

Ok, thank you for the response. Will this buggy handle better lighter? I was going to set it up per the manual, except 0's in the front. Maybe a change in the rear if it doesn't corner the way I want. Will the manual setup work well with a heavier buggy? The indoor track Jason and I run at, seems like lighter is the way to go. What are good shorty packs? Also, what size kv on the T8i would be best? I really appreciate the help, had an older E buggy last year that I put too much money into trying to get it to do what it wasn't designed to do.

The Adam Drake outdoor setup is superb! The only change from the setup was I went with 1 degree less anti squat due to the track being rough and bumpy. Incredible the change from running the stock setup I ran on the same track.

I am mad this car came out so late into our season! Now this winter I'll be feigning to run more 1/8th scale!

Im pretty sure most of these questions have been answered but i just wanna know how this buggy is performance wise overall. Is it better than xray xb9e? Do you have to shim anything or pre-prep something before running the vehicle?

The reason the light motor exists is to make a light car. The reason for a light car is that indoor tracks tend to be a little smaller and tighter...if yours is that way, the lighter cars will switch directions faster.

I understand, I will be using the E buggy only indoors. So I want it to be able to perform the best I can make it. What shorty packs and kv T8i do you recommend?

We are running Venom 3800mah 60C batteries and Tekin T8i 1950KV motor. This combo works great. We are running 10 min mains no problem with this setup as well.
