+1 for a metric car, I won't touch another car that doesn't use metric hardware myself, just plain inconvenient to have to sort hardware and tools; lets face it, SAE was a big mistake.

I bought a couple used TC6's and I couldn't be happier. I'll occasionally let my 13 y/o son race one and he's yet to break a hub carrier. When he runs one of my DriftKing's he can rarely make it through a race without busting a hub carrier as he's always driving beyond his skill and bangs up the walls a lot

picked up 2 X-Ray T3s, one an R edition but with some upgrades and the other a 2012 or whatever was the last one.

Right now, looking at bodies. I am thinking a body that has some push to it for my daughter could be useful to help her ease into things.

Any recommendations to that end?

Also I searched the thread for "Subaru" but didn't see any opinions on how handling was on those bodies like the WRX, etc. Got I believe a car coming with one new, curious if its worth using or not.

I know first place at the Southern Nats used a 200mm corvette body. 2nd and 3rd were 350z's. 4th and 6th were NSX.

Watch this video at about 50 seconds in and you can see what people were using.

Nice shot Travis, I didn't realize it looks like I was the only one using the 70 Boss body during the weekend.

Actually, RJ used a HPI MRS for 2nd. Bill Sydor was in a 350Z. I am not sure what the Lyons were using.

Justin and Matt Lyons were running the hpi mclaren f1. Too easy to body tuck for me. The nsx is a good body imo. I still like the 911 gt3rs and e92 m3.

Not my video but figured it was worth showing so he could see the bodies used.

I would look at the Audi R8 from tamiya. Its a bit on the expensive side at $40. But it sits nice and low and is 190 mm. So no need for offset wheels. It's by far the best body I have found for USGT. Here is a pic of mine from the southern nats.

Speaking of which, and I apologize if this was already mentioned, but anyone running any "hatchback" looking bodies? My daughter seems to like the look of a few, including the mini cooper that her uncle has, curious if there is a body that fits and works well?

And lastly, do people every run VTA style bodies or is that another body type that is not allowed like touring types? As a kid, loved the smoky and the bandit movies so of course, love the car lol.

I am thinking this class is where we are going to start, especially as electronics are a bit more open and I can get some battery reuse (7200s from my Tekno SCT410) unless I am missing some limitation on that like VTA?

Batteries just need to be ROAR legal for USGT. That is the only limitation. I think the Tamiya Mini Cooper body is for the M02,M03 chassis and I don't think it would fit a standard 4wd car. If it does it will not help the cars handling so I wouldn't recommend it. You could run it under USGT rules though. You can also run a USVTA body as well. They are 200mm wide so the wheels will be tucked in a bit or you can run some larger hexs or different offset wheels if you wanted. I myself would stick with the 0mm offset and standard wheel hex's because the car tends to work better this way and just have a bit more wheel tuck inside the body.
