Are you using 1/10 scale Assoc. parts or 1/12 scale? I was thinking about doing the same thing. Seems like 1/10 scale has more choices of compounds.

1/10 scale...i know they are not "scale" as are the Tamiya tyres, but they are alot less expensive and yes, many more compounds. On my homemade pods, the only thing i dont have is the ability of ride height adjustment,.I used 3/16" alum. i "aquired" from work and spent a heck of alot of time on these things"whew".But they look sweet.

Hmmm... I remember reading that the Assoc. axle will fit in Tamiya's rear pod. Maybe I'll experiment this off season. Thanks for the info.

Psycho.....i dont believe the Assoc. axle will fit. Assoc axle is 1/4 inch and the Tamiya bearing is metric....i could be wrong????
TFR....sorry , no pics...are you wanting to see the pod????
Has the Tamiya nats happened already...if not, anybody going?????Good luck.
Anybody know Russel Johnson???he went to Japan, i believe 2 years ago for the F-1 class. I raced against him several times in Dallas and Oklahoma, he was always freakin' fast. I think hes still racing. If you have his ear, get him on here.

Did you guys get the Cross cars in yet? If so, how much? Do they still use those funky rear wheels?

I'm not sure what track temps you'll see, but my car was very hooked up with stock setup. Track temps on the tracks I run at are usually 137 degrees online and 134 degrees offline in the afternoon, and I run exclusively on asphalt (because it never rains in CA!) The only thing I did different was to put a couple dabs of Associated Black Grease under the friction damper plates. I used the stock rubber tires and stock inserts that came with my kit with the stock springs and could not break the car loose. I was running the Toyota GT1 body. I read somewhere that it has the best downforce of the Tamiya GTP bodies. One trick that I did to stop the rearend from rattling around was to cut small pieces of sedan foam inserts and punch a hole in them and put them over the rear body posts. The expansion pressure of the foam pushes the body against the body clips and it doesn't bounce around as much. Good luck at TCS!

TFR you're going to race in hte TCS race. I can tell you that will will never get close to the 137degrees this time of the year for us. I say your car was pretty good last time. just work on your driving skill!

For those of you going to the Castle Classic on Sunday, get ready for some traction rolls. The parking lot was resurfaced and we should have nutty amounts of traction this weekend! I was there today and the surface is awesome.
