were the ol' micro RS4 any good to drift?
just by looking at the chassis it seems like it'll be much more fun & easier to mod than the mini-z

the last time i'd checked, Hobby Etc had a few of the GPM parts in stock . (My micro hadn't made it to the carpet - maybe i'll see it's debut soon)

I will have to pull my 2 out of the shop and get them running again. I have one that has the full Ratzass chassis setup on it that was really nice and handled very well.

The originals back in the day offered a Kit version which I bought, and an RTR version. I imagine that if there is enough support for them again that they would release it as a kit. Lucky enough, I never got rid of any of my old MRS4 stuff. However I know that I will need a new motor at least because the old Team Orion motor I had in it was cooked

I'm glad they brought it back. I may have to pick one up this go-round.

Hey, guess what?... the Gen 1 M18 is still better than your new Re-release!

What is going on here?.. Did someone buy HPI and just got the rights to turn on their product line again? And I heard RadioShack is re-releasing the Xmod as well (pretty sure they are made by HPI as well). Weird...

Anyways, my beef with the HPI is the belt drive, I have no idea how they can say it efficiently delivers power to the front. When we used to run 18th scale, you could always spot the HPI's because they were all slightly kicking to the one side down the straights. Un-even power distribution to the diffs always seemed to be an issue, even after a bunch of tuning.

I started into 18th with a bunch of cash spent on two HPI MSR4s (all kinds of hop-ups), when I finally gave in and got an M18 my laptimes dropped precipitously with the first few bone-stock runs. Wish I would've gotten the M18 first, I certainly woulda saved a bunch of green!

Maybe I'm still slightly bitter about it... can you tell?

And don't get me started on how many motors I fried up in the MRS4s!

What kind of hop-ups should I get with this car, I'd like to run brushless and LiPos and would like to have some peace of mind with the chassis was wondering what alloy/cf parts I should get?

My HPI Micro RS4 Ken Block arrived yesterday. Got it for a good price $139 at Tower.

It's a neat little chassis. I got this as a "toy" to play with in the garage. I couldn't see myself ever racing something like this the way I raced my TRF 417.

The kit is RTR so there's no building, although, it did come with what looks like additional servo horns. The radio is $5 piece of plastic as to be expected. The charger is one of those wall bricks that requires 4 hours to charge. The body is very nice with good detail, although, I prefer to do my own painting.

As this is my first micro car, it's interesting to see how HPI was able to adapt some of the 1/10th design cues into such a small package. Overall, I think this a pretty decent value compared to the toy store crop of RC cars. If HPI has decent parts support and the chassis isn't to fragile, I think this will be a winner for me.

I sold off all my RC equipment almost 1 year ago with no plans to get serious again. Seems, no matter how hard I try, I just can't stay away from RC. Without getting crazy, I hope to convert the motor to brushless, and upgrade the battery to LiPo. But that's it! Ok, well maybe a charger.

Does your KB version come with normal sticky rubber tires or slick drift tires?
