So I did the math and if you have a mid release kit (updated diff to SCT410 ect.) it will cost a little over $350 to get it to a EB48.2 spec. If you have a true first run kit its going to be more like $400.
I'm actually surprised Tekno is making this the new default kit. They could easily have left the EB48 at $550 and then have called the EB48.2 the EB48 Pro or something like that and let the price be around $800. The higher cost would be justified by the higher end/light weight parts. I applaud Tekno for going the route they have because its much easier on the consumer wallet.
Unless parts are worn out or broken this does make upgrading parts just to get to a EB48.2 spec not worth it. For just a little more you might as well purchase another kit and have a full kit for backup.

. If you have one on backorder somewhere it will be filled with the new kit. There probably won't be an upgrade pack, but there's a chance.
This is a point/incremental release. We released the original over a year ago. We thought a year or so was a good amount of time for an update.
We COULD have charged more for the kit, but we opted for lower margins to increase volume and capture more of the market. We wanted to pass the savings on to our customers and put out a kit that stands out and represents a TRUE value. This is a tough business and we're here to compete.
SCT410.2 hasn't been discussed yet, FYI. SC is a different market. We'll have to assess that after we get the nitro buggy, nitro truggy, and electric truggy out the door.
Thanks for your patience and support. The new EB48.2 kit is awesome and I can't wait to build one of my own

Thanks for the answer.
Now I can start building my SCT410.

Why do you think they've been out of stock for so long
