♦♦♦Overheating Help Needed!♦♦♦

Ok, so Ive got a Sc10 2wd , with Novak Havoc 3s ESC , 65c-2S Gens-Ace lipo, and a Tekin Redline 17.5 geared with 30/75 pinion/spur
Problem is that it goes 170 in about 5 minutes!
I've backed off the can timing to 5, same result. initial timing was 12
Ive upped the gearing to a 30t pinion instead of the 28 i was running, and the result.
Today i switched to a different Tekin 17.5 and 30/75 combo and i shut it down at 165!
Esc stays about 95-100 all times
Also, i run ona large 1/8th scale type track, and slipper is fairly tight, bout 5 threads showing.
What is going on with all this heat? I like running the 17.5 class, but i'm only the ESC short of chaning everything, except maybe lipo?
Anybody got an idea?
Freind of mine runs same truck with tekin rs, 17.5 and 30/75 and has NO heat problems?
Any help appreciated!Thankx!

So, I'm gathering info, and seems to be a question of overheating versus motor load.
Typical gearing for my truck and track seems tobe more around 25/75 7.8fdr combo or around a 7.5generally. Question is, would the motor spin faster but under less load with the 25/75 combo and make it cooler, or just overheat more cause of extra rpms?
My current FDR is 6.5 with the 30/75
Thx for input!

I don't think a 17.5 is likely to overheat from too many RPMs, that seems to be more of an issue with lower wind motors. I've significantly under geared a 17.5 for novice driving without heat issues anyway. At least assuming it doesn't have way too much timing advance.
I think lower gearing (smaller pinion) is a good idea to try. Then perhaps try a little more timing advance.
