I paid 345$ for rx8gen1/2000kv combo on ebay. I'm sure I overpaid but actually being able to drive the truck for the past six weeks was a lot more fun than saving some money.

Different strokes etc..

I know what you mean I just had to pay slightly more for a new Tekin motor. Lucky I cut my fleet down and have 3 good used RX8's while I wait for the new ones. And no, they are not for sale.

I even sold a lightly used original 4 hole case model, netting about that same as a Gen2 will cost me and now I get a fresh warranty without paying the $40 3-hole upgrade charge.

I had both of these listed on RCTech at "shipped" prices for way less than my "Net" from the eBay sales but all the "smart" guys here wouldn't touch them.

So: "Ha Ha" (and Thank You!) to all the smart guys that wouldn't touch them!

good for you (sarcasm) ...congrats on bragging about taking advantage of someone......I'm quite a bit younger than you so hopefully your buyers were young like me so they have plenty of time (in life) to make up for their overspending!

Enjoy your Gen2 RX8

These RC Companies really seem to struggle when trying to time product launches and or new product roll outs......

It's a shame that you had to overpay for outdated and discontinued equipment. I just recently decided to get an EB48, but there are no RX8's to be found. Major Bummer.....I'm a pretty dedicated racer and have had good luck with RX8's in the past. I was hoping to use one once again. Unfortunately Tekin decided to leave the market dry. Bad for them, worse for us!

But several friends who are pretty serious about racing and have had great luck with this speedo : http://www.falconsekido.com/products...t-pro-esc-blue

So I'm gonna give it a whirl and see what happens.

I had these ESCs listed on RCTech for months, $208 shipped (I was matching Stormer's price including shipping) for the NIB one and $140 shipped for the 4 hole case one - a price that would get you a fresh warranty with the three hole upgrade for less than the cost of new.

No one here wanted them.

I figured out starting bids to get the same I would have got from selling them on RCTech at those prices (after factoring in the eBay fees) and then added Buy-It-Nows.

The new one lasted 1/2 hour after it was listed. The used one less than a day. Buyers chose Buy-It-Now. They obviously valued them more highly than I did so I feel I was providing a service. They could have put in the starting bid and I would have been happy.

Really: $208 shipped for a new Gen1 and no one here wanted it? If I was a newb or had lousy feedback or something I could understand it. It seems that many buyers here aren't happy unless they feel they have taken advantage of the seller. The people here just wanted to whine about them being unavailable. I have absolutely no remorse.

I do fully expect to enjoy my new Gen2s, thank you.

I bought a used 3 hole for $140 and my buddy bought one for $150 on here a couple weeks ago. Another buddy bought a 1/8 ofna buggy w an rx8 and 1900kv t8 for $300. No reason to spend over $200 unless you're lazy and don't look around.

Well said. Everyone was thinking it. You were just smart enough to say it.

Hey man thanks for keeping the used one under $200. Made it so I could drive my car before the gen2 came out with no regrets, thanks again!

Nothing wrong with supply and demand. Just don't like to see anyone get taken advantage of. "I'm not saying that's what happened, but that is how ta_man made it sound."

Have had a brand new Serpent Cobra 2.0 e-buggy sitting on the shelf for three weeks sans electronics. Got sick of waiting, so bought a gently used gen one RX8 off of ebay for $199 last night (he said he used it two times). Also bought the 1900 T8 from Tower Hobbies for $134 with my discount. Sure it costs more than a combo, but don't really feel like missing the entire summer season waiting for something that could possibly be another month or two out.

BTW, there is a LOT of overpriced hobby stuff on ebay. But remember, in our free society, we have a CHOICE on whether to buy it or not!

Sorry about that - did not intend to make it sound that way. I sold mine for less than any other new one I'd seen on eBay. The Buy-It-Now I put on mine was $32 less than the current bid on another one that was being auctioned at the same time. It just happened to be enough to let me buy a Gen2 with a Tower discount code (when they get them).

I hate seeing that too. Just like back at christmas time when amain had their quad chargers on sale for crazy cheap then in a few days I see people on here selling 3 or 4 of them for $50 more than what amain had them on sale for. Clearly you bought them cheap with the intention on making money on them by selling them to someone less fortunate than yourself. Why take advantage of someone else in a sport that is already expensive enough?

OK rant over..... now am I the only one that is counting down the days until the gen2's start shipping??!!
