Radio Control Hobbies & Raceway - Waterbury, CT.
This goes out to all the guys and gals who like to race competitively, and take their racing fairly seriously. I don’t know about the rest of you, but out on the west coast things are seem to be very organized, even between other tracks. They have things like the top notch series and other serious series that bring out the best of the best. Here on the east coast we have a race here and there that brings out a couple good guys and it’s for one race on one surface. We as a community need to sit down and figure out something that will make the manufactures stand up and take notice of our local and regional talent. This isn’t really for them as much as its for the serious racers who want claim the spot in the rankings among the rest of the racers. Somehow we need to figure something out as a community.
I am in no way saying that I am the person to make this happen. I just wanted to state the obvious. This region will never be taken as serious as say, the west coast unless we all come together as a community and stop trying to outdo each other and stop having these little our track is better you’re track tiffs . That’s just my 2 cents and hopefully this will spark some sort of coming together of all the racers and owners in our region. I am all for helping make this happen in anyway I can. So if this inspires someone to make something happen please contact me..

I don’t have enough knowledge about running a race program or coordinating an event to drive something like this but I’d be willing to lend a hand anyway I can.
@ Blake, why would you torture yourself like that? I suppose at the end of the day, setup is all about weight transfer, and TC chassis just have more ways to tweak this, some of which are quite complex.
@ Tom, I generally agree with you here. I'm sure there is something logistical here that complicates track-to-track interactions (namely, how each track negotiates which big event they will host, since each event brings in money for the track. This can lead to some serious politics which I'm sure happens in SoCal, but we're just not aware of it since we're not there). One thing that Mark had pointed out in fairness is that we don't take ROAR too seriously out here. I would imagine the case is different in SoCal, and that helps them quite a bit with hosting big events. Also doesn't hurt that most of the big manufacturers are based in SoCal, so it is natural that they would push for events in their backyard. Not that we couldn't make a strong, consistent community here with the right leaders and effort, but pragmatically speaking, the strongest community is presently in SoCal. And as Sam Kinnison said, "you don't live where the f**king food is."

i'm not saying these need to be events that are sponsored by a manufacturer. if we could get one series a year that goes to each location only once that would be a great all around drivers series as all the surfaces have their uniqueness and so does each track. hen all the owners would have to get along and put this event together once a year..
This weekend May 18 is the trophy race on the outdoor track. Race #2 in the points series with Gallimods! Bring your tents, tables, chairs and extension cords if you are planning to pit outside. Indoor pits always available. Track opens at 7am racing starts around 10am. Awards for top 3 in the "A" and top 3 in the "B". Hope to see you all soon!

I also think that, for the most part, it is not the owners that are not getting along. Perhaps the cliques that are involved and the BS rumors that fly around without boundry.
Just my 2 cents
@ Blake, why not?
Nothing meant by it.
@ Dieselpower, I think it's a bit of both. Where there are humans, there is drama. Shop owners and racers alike each have their own agenda. The shop owners are competing for business, and the racers are competing for supremacy (well...some of them...I'd like to think that most of us are just trying to have a good time).

4x4 SC so tempting...but mod ST so much more fun
All open wheel for me this weekend.
I have given some thought about how to arrange the marshalling. At the first race in the trophy series, we had problems in the ST class getting the prior heat's drivers to marshal, nevermind sweep the track. In the ST A-main, as some of you know, the marshalling was less than stellar. I know...it happens...not much you can do about it. However, I thought it might be worth trying to have the B-mains marshalled by other B-mains, and likewise for the A-mains, if the number of entrants supports it. Maybe I'm missing something...maybe better drivers don't necessarily make better marshals. Or maybe for whatever classes have A- and B-mains, the A-main from that class marshals the B-main and vice versa. I'm just thinking out loud here (I know...dangerous), but I'm wondering what other people here think. Obviously, it doesn't do much good to outright punish people for marshalling poorly, but it would be nice if we could think of a way to incentivize the less good marshals to do a better job.
