I got my 951 in. Sorry to say, but this thing is garbage compared to my $80 hakko iron. Things i don't like about this. If I'm doing something wrong, please correct me!

1) the solder handle feels cheap
2) the solder handle gets warm, my other hakko didn't
3) you can't on the fly adjust the temperature. You have to out a key in the unit to change temperature. This sucks big time
4) directions are absolutly horrible
5) i can't seem to get the sleep mode to work. My options in my unit is either "2 0" or "2 1". The instrictions says "2 0", "2 10", and "2 30".

I have read nother but great reviews on this iron. Am I missing something?

I got the 936 over 2 years and it is one of the best $$ I spent so far.

I have that one. And the quality on 936 is so much better than the 951!

Bummer, that’s surprising given how solid the 936 and 888 are. I don’t have any experience with the 951, but from the pictures it sure appears to have a far different handle-wand. Appears to have a different connector too, wonder if there are any other wands that would fit and be better? The temp lock suggests it’s intended for controlled production type work?

I see they have discontinued the compact FX-888 too, apparently replaced by a bulkier and more complex digital version. Drat.
