SC10 Thread Part 2

Also, the servo saver, located just to the front of the servo on the right side of the vehicle (refer to your instruction manual) consists of a sprung hub/ramp assembly. They're known for being a little weak, so when the servo actuates against the tires, it ramps up instead. It is there to "save the servo" when you hit a wall. So it is safer to run with it.
But, some of us prefer to put glue on the ramp surfaces in order to lock it out. This is also part of why you see AE and JConcepts/Avid with the aluminum steering bellcranks now.
Your servo horn may also be stripped/worn, so check it against the servo splines as well.

you can glue the servo saver, but no without a good MG servo. Just pickup the one I listed. You will need an Airtronics servo horn for it. Dont let all the people here confuse you. The solar 770 is a great replacement servo for the rtr and is only around $20 shipped. Spend more if you like, but I am just trying to help you save a buck or too. if you really want to spend, the Radio Post Blue servo is very good at $119.

The stock servo in the RTRs are junk to begin with. There are tons of better servos out there and not many that are worse
It depends on how much you want to spend as which to get. The faster and more torque a servo has, the more it cost. I have a Solar servo, I won't buy another one. Savox is pretty good but you need a high voltage receiver (not spectrum) for it to work properly.
Futaba is one of my favorites. A little pricey but worth the $$ IMHO.

I run the Losi slider and Desert truck servos in spektrum transmitters.
I also use the traxxas blue digital servos. The OFNA servos are alright too.
I have yet to try the spektrum servos. I heard they are pretty nice.
My local hobby shop stocks savox servos but I probably wont get them if they dont work with a spektrum transmitter. Thanks for letting us know.

If you use an orange dsm2 rx you will not have problems with a Spektrum. The s300 rx is just too weak for a decent servo. You can get the orange rx for less than $15. Make sure the Spektrum radio has the orange writing on the back side. I do not use a cap on my sc10, but do use one on my scte to help the servo out. I use Align 615 servos.
