Tekno SCT410 Thread

does anyone know if the eb48 shocks are the same size as the sct410?....if so do the shocks that come with the eb48 have all the upgrades such as alum caps ,alum bottoms , alum collars and different shafts?

First off let me say I think Tekno did an amazing job with the design and quality of this kit. If you are happy with the stock setup then great, this won't apply to you. But coming from racing an SCTE for a couple of years, which works great on pretty much any track condition with the standard team setup, I wanted to find a setup I could run on this truck without making big changes.
First impressions of the kit setup were easy to drive, tons of steering, but the ass end was loose coming out of corners, and it would chassis slap on high speed jumps and fly nose down. I tried everything I could think of, removing braces, hubs forward, different sway bars, roll centers, shock pistons, etc, but the truck just never felt "right" to me. Every time my truck hit the track it would have something different done to the setup and I kept notes. The only thing that made the truck feel better was stiffer springs. So I started looking at shock geometry and spring rates. Basically I took measurements from the SCTE and compared them to the Tekno and found that the lower shock mount locations were very close, but the tower locations were more stood up on the Tekno, and the stock spring rates are much lower, especially in the rear.
So I basically copied the SCTE shock angles and spring rates to see how it worked. It did everything I was looking for. The rear is locked down coming out of corners, maybe even too much. Even with 10k in center diff it has a slight push coming out. No more chassis slap. I'm able to make a triple at my home track that only ebuggies can do because of the increased forward bite and I can hit the jump full throttle and the truck flies level. Even with hubs back and all chassis braces in it still has a ton of forward bite. Off power steering is still excellent.
Currently running HB grey front springs 4.2# rate and Losi green rear 3.1# rate. Anything in that range should work. I did try Tekno greens in front but couldn't get the ride height low enough. I feel the setup is about 80% there, just need to play with sway bars, diff fluids and roll centers a little more. I'm also racing on a big outdoor loamy track next weekend so hopefully it will be good there too. I can post my setup sheet if anyone is interested.

I just did the ridge on one cause I don't know the shocks to well. Honestly I doubt there's any worry that the ridge matters seems how its on the out side of the shim.. I didn't shave the one I left the ridge on to be sure of over sanding and put it to the top just to insure I didn't take to much off. So far after at least 8 packs tonight it's still not leaking. If puppy used green slime then they wont swell much and could be why they leaked?? But sanding them will free the shaft up and allow for more swelling and stay free longer. I only have the kit a couple more weeks so I don't have time to test and tune to see how many thousandths I can take off of a shim before total failure. I wouldn't take off more than 2 thousandths if you want to test it out.

Best way is to add the weight of the electronics on one side. Subtract the battery weight and then add in front of the battery behind it and in the servo tray at the back of the kit. I actually did some testing tonight and that's how I am doing it. The kit felt best at about 3.5 ounces. I am planning to get it more accurate this weekend.

Watched your shock build video and enjoyed it. Your method makes a lot of sense.
For what it's worth you might want to try plumbers teflon tape to cover the threads instead of scotch tape. The stuff is slick and there is no way to nick the o-rings. As you pointed out though I doubt it's really necessary unless you're really anal.

Im curious how the Pro4 class is doing at other places besides here in Arizona. Its been over two months now since having a full class at any of the tracks here during a club race night. Im sorta getting sick of being the only one of two or three to show up.
Its it a struggle to get a class together on club race nights for any of you?
