There was talk about practice for sedans on Monday night. Is this going to happen tomorrow night? If so that would be nice.

There is not going to be a sedan practice this Monday night (tomorrow). The scheduling of a practice night needs to be approved by the newly elected board which is going to meet this coming Saturday. I would expect it to be given the green light by the board with next Monday being the starting date. However, it needs to be a board decison.

More nights being open = more better. Sounds like a good plan to me. We used to do this a few years back and when we got enough people, we'd run a 2-heat/main race, anything goes, just for fun. Sometimes there was even enough interest to do a 4-6 week mini points series.

As stated by Hybrid, this needs to go before the board and shouldn't be a problem. There are at least four people committed to showing up on Monday nights - this won't be a hollow effort.

I think Monday should work well, the track will be set from the Sunday program, so there shouldn't be a need to remove jumps, design a track and what not - bring in your gear, throw a car down on the track and practice - very efficient for those folks short of time. Having enough to race would be icing on the cake.

Also, If Monday works out, I would appreciate the experienced sedan guys stopping down to help those new to this genre of racing - there is much to setting up these cars.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I plan to start racing soon and am just trying to select a stock motor based on the size of the track.

Default Need help getting started

I am new to R/C racing and need a little help getting started in the right direction.

First off I need to select the right pinion gear. I will be running a Monster Pro motor and the instructions suggest using a pinion gear lower (3-4 teeth) than normal stock motors because of it being a high RPM motor. The car manual suggests a 28 tooth pinion. So is it as simple as using a 25 tooth pinion or can someone suggest something better based on their experience?

The stock class requires rubber tires. What rubber tires are best for a carpeted surface?

Thanks for any suggestions anyone may have.

I am guessing you are talking about a Sedan right? (the rubber tires were a clue) If not then post which kind of racing you are looking at.

If you are running the stock 72 tooth spur gear a 22 tooth pinion will work fine. That is a overall ratio of 8.57. If you changed the spur grear this would be incorrect. Post up your spur gear if its different and I will figure it out for you.
