I'm being told a 3500-4000kv 4 pole motor is not a good idea in an SC10.. Am I hearing right? I was considering the castle 3800kv or perhaps the hobbywing 4000kv.

I'm only just about to start racing at small local club level.

A 4 Pole motor is designed more towards 4x4 SC. It has too much torque for a 2wd and will just make it hard to drive.

Nick, a 6.5 at leisure is EXTREMELY un-needed. I run an 8.5 orion and have no problems keeping up

I just got a used roller with stock reedy 3300 and i have a traxxas vxl system 3500 i think. What would be the proper(safe) gearing for these motors? I need a spur gear also. 87t?

You're not Chad Due. You're going to run out of talent long before he does. His vehicles are also very finely tuned with countless hours of tracktime and experimentation, and a seemingly endless reservoir of tuning knowledge. His vehicles can do things most can't.

Well, I apologize then. I just saw 12 posts, and asking newb questions like "what gearing?", using a big motor on a small low traction track and a smaller motor on a big high traction track, along with blanket statements about what everyone uses, and some name dropping, and assumed you were new. There's a lot of them here and they usually make those same kinds of statements. So again, I apologize.
Are you going to the Chi-Town?

ya I'll be there. I'll look for ya and say hi. Bring slicks and ghost pins, and set it up low and stiff to start.
