Thumbs up Thanks

Generally Nova uses a letter and a number to identify their rods. The first letter denotes what it is for (R,C,P,N, whatever). Any motor that has an R rod in it can use any other R rod. So if you have a 2000 era .21 with an R2 rod, a modern R7 will fit it.

The number is the version of that particular size rod. The higher the number, the newer the rod.

Now again, I don't know the recent .12s but if Nova's nomenclature remains the same, any motor with an N1 rod can be replaced with an N2. The 2 just means it's an updated design and they are usually better.

Of course, sometimes even the same numbered rods get updated. I just replaced an R7 09 rod with an R7 13. Though they are the same part number, they are noticeably different. Both are dimensionally the same and will work just fine.
Thanks sounds right.

After that they switched back to the CNC piston and made some cooling channels just under the exhaust port (flash models).
Thank you

Default engine advise

Hi,

I am looking to replace my 353'08 which i drove for much joy the last couple of years. I am a serious clublevel racer on a large fast track. As my budget is thight I need the best value for my money but still being reasonably competative.

I can get a new 353'08 for EUR 180 ($240) or move up to the newer and more expensive ones, like:
* 353 race .12c/tuned or flash tuned -2010 --> both EUR 290
* flash .12PT tuned or keep-on 12 tined --> both ~EUR 340
I find the price difference between the 353'08 striking and am wondering if they gives enough performance to justify the extra money.

Thanks!

They probably released only the .21 engines just because the 1/8th Worlds are coming soon.

The Nova 2660 is their latest and best combo of power and fuel mileage. I think it will compare similarly to the Capricorn 2662.

These are probably your best bets...you can further tune using different manifolds.

The Capricorn pipe will give very good mid and top end power.
It's a very good exhaust which works well with all Novarossi and also Picco engines.

Hi Guys,

Have been running the Plus 12-3sct with a 2652 pipe combo for the last year in my MTX5, but have struggled on getting 5mins of runtime (even with gas cooler) and poor bottom end acceleration. Recently switched to a Max Power 2649 pipe and very impressed with the difference. Now reaching almost 6mins and the bottom end is ballistic! The 2649 really makes it scream!

Has anyone else noticed this with the 2652 pipe? Is it thirsty?

Cheers,
Mick

Can someone help me ......... I lost my confidence determining when the engine has completed break in process. I am in the process of break in new piston sleeve...... the Top Dead Center is still very stiff even without glowplug. However, the engine sound ( idling rythem ) is perfect and it can idling for 4 tanks. Right now, i think , the engine has completed 12 tanks. I use " heat cycles : 4 tanks stop and let it cool interval ". This sunday I will continue the break in process on the track. How do I know the break in process has been completed ?

I have an old 359, does anybody know the P/N for the P/S set? Or what other engine set is compatible? I want to rebuild it and keep it as a practice motor.

The rod is different. It won't work because of the pin on the crankshaft is smaller.
