INTECH RACING - BR-6 BUGGY!!!
#571
Great weekend of racing for me at the FORCE Series. I qual 3rd in rnd 1 and TQ'd Rnd 2 in nitro. Bad luck in the main - lost a wheel nut and stripped out the rim. Billy Easton went on to win the main event after starting 5th.
In Ebuggy, I qualified 4th and had 2nd in the main until I was taken out twice by a back marker and finished 3rd. Serpent's Ryan Johnson TQ'd and won.
TQ'd Rnd 1 of truggy and won the main event by 2 laps. Used VP-Pro soft Tubro Trax on all 3 cars.

I am going to build the 'dirt car' up to your set ups as you seem to get much more 'dirt time' than us!
Can I ask for your latest set up so that us UK guys can use it as a base??
We have also created intechdrivers.com feel free to have a look around and if you want to have a profile page and site access to post set ups, pictures and advice drop us an email at [email protected] and I will send you some log ins.
Thanks,
Matt.

Well done on the results! Sounds like you have the Intech set up nicely for dirt! I have been running mine here in the UK since November on Astro and have found a nice set up now so I am going to leave this car for astro but get another built up for dirt as our national series is all dirt, I also have some indoor events on dirt coming up too, I cant wait to get it on the dirt!

What I changed is this:
Tapered 1.25 x 6 pistons
750/400
Unscrewed shock ends 2.5 turns
Front upper outer hole on tower, inner on arm
Rear upper outer hole on tower, outer on arm
Full down travel front&rear
600002-1 convex bladders
Black/Purple dot front progressive spring, Black/Red dot rear progressive spring
27/28 ride height
I tried a bunch of different springs and liked that the best but I still need to test more (only had a few hours of practice). I like the way 1.4 wire springs feel, so that is why I did not use the 1.5 Purple springs. The 1.4 progressive springs seem to feel softer at first, then get stiff as they are compressed. I felt this would give more traction and be better in the bumps, but also keep the car flatter in the turns and stop the car from bottoming out.
It seemed to work because my fast lap was only .1 sec off in both rounds of qualifying and I TQ'd Rnd #2 against some very fast guys here in FL. I choose the wrong tires for the main and had issues but in practice and qualifying, my buggy was super dialed.

Here is my setup with a few changes:
What I changed is this:
Tapered 1.3 x 6 pistons
750/350
Unscrewed shock ends 2.5 turns
Front upper outer hole on tower, inner on arm
Rear upper outer hole on tower, outer on arm
Full down travel front&rear
600002-1 convex bladders
Xray 3 stripe front spring, Serpent V2 orange front spring for rear
27/28 ride height

The front is mounted on the inside hole and the rear is on the outside hole, so that is the reason for the big difference. That is with VP-Pro oils, so it might be different with other brands. But I always set my front shocks stiffer then the rear to calm it down since the tracks here have so much traction/steering.

Yes it was grooved up.

No alum towers/braces/caster, just the items that are lighter then stock. I also used VP-Pro titanium turnbuckles. Everything saved about 2 ounces over stock.

Great job Gene.
Got to run a little more fuel through mine this past weekend and really liking this buggy. I think Im going to try the new intech taper pistons this coming weekend. Gonna try your set up just to compare.
I did notice that the listed optional pistons were 1.25x6? are these the ones you're running or is there a 1.3x6 set you are running? How can we get those? I been wanting to try the fioroni ones for awhile now....Are they worth the coin?

The Fironi pistons were out of stock last time I checked. Do they fit the Intech shock bodies Greg? The BR-6 bodies are actually 15.2mm, so I thought the o-ring might be too small so I need to test them. If they work, we will stock them at VP-Pro USA.
