Marcca just doesn't like change...
IMO
Combine open and super, leave sportsman. Add a weeknight race.
Some people can't make a saturday race, or can only race 1 day a weekend. Adding a weekday race would allow them to race marrca/trackside or onroad/offroad.
Combining open/super would keep the competition tight when there is a lower turnout and would prevent people from 'sandbaging' by racing a lower class.
More people would be racing at marcca, there would be more room to grow, and maybe with the increased income marcca could find a permanent home.

you did bring up a few good points.
I don't race on saturdays because I wanted to try something new, and getting out at 11pm(or later) sucked... I just bought 2 f1 cars and will be racing most sundays now.
I would bet my next paycheck that the gaps in skill that were there when I left are still there.
The lower super guys are consistent but not fast uber fast
The top open guys are fast but not consistent.
The lower open guys don't have an good examples on how to drive better so they become aggressive and run over people.
50 entries on sat+ 20 on sunday = 70 racers total...
imagine: add a weeknight race.
Saturday entries go down to 30-40, the weeknight would get 20-30, and sunday would be 20-30 too.
When you combine the classes, the open guys have someone to follow to become faster. Generating closer competition.
It was a pretty difficult battle to get Sundays
And in all due respect Zach I have not seen u on a Saturday prolly in over a year so u really aren't aware of what ur saying we are putting over 50 entries thru the door per week over half are stadium trucks which I guess is the problem I have with this discussion people that have not had anything to do with our Saturday night program or Marcca at all this year keying in with words of wisdom when u don't know the gap in ability at all
Our drivers are top notch there are packs of great racing that I'd love to see
But again I digress

I'm guessing there are people that would race during the week that can't race on the weekends. Wasn't the turnout at RCP 20ish people on wednesdays?

I'm not arguing, but here are some real facts.
I always figured if there were 80 entry fees a week @15 each, not including second classes and you put $5 in the kitty for each practice day you attend, you could support a building of your own. About $1600 to $1800 a week. That again will only work if you build the building and take out a mortgage for the NPO, such as MARCCA. The current fee structure for warehouse space in Madison, like MARCCA typically finds is ridiculous. Most of those places want .50 or more per square foot per month. For a 12500 sq foot place, that 6250 a month. A steel frame building with 20ft walls with full clear space is around $250,000 not including construction fees for a unit that size. That is the price delivered and dropped on your property only. That doesn't include the land, well, sewage, electrical access, parking lot, security, heating... Get my meaning? We'd need $500,000 just for enough capital to open the doors day one and then hope the numbers come out as planned. We're pretty lucky to get the space we do for the money we offer. My idea would be add a real hobby shop to support racing and cafe to offset the cost of the hobby shop and racing space.

Would it be possible for the 'marcca NPO' to get a mortgage?
$500k @ 5% over 30 years is ~$3300/month.
I don't fully understand how NPOs/LLCs/etc work, but I would think there's a way to get a mortgage without any risk to anyone specifically.
Accepted...

IMO it would need to stay closer to madison, maybe farther south. When you get too far away from a large city, there's less people to race RC cars...
I would think we could find a building/land within 30min of madison for a reasonable price.

Jon's numbers might be a tad high at half a mil but the ideas remain the same. Being a non profit club that has (realistically) few assets has no chance of getting a loan without the officers and directors sticking heir own personal necks out for the club. The idea of finding 10 investors with 30,000 each might be more realistic. They could form a LLC and rent back the space to the club. May be difficult since we can't find people to buy paper towel for the club knowing they will get repaid.
To my best knowledge, MARCCA has been around for over 25 years.
