I like the layout . How's the traction?
If traction is high try 2.3 in front if its 2 edgeie for u go up 2.5 . Use 5mm front droop 4 in the rear. If ur still rolling go ur high role in rear.

Hey guys I am finallly ready to roll with my freshly built T4 .

However I am having a hard time with what size pinion to get for it. Using kit Spur 84T .

I have a 17.5 motor in it at the time ... I am looking to run blinky and I know that a FDR of 4.0 is a good place to start however I know I can get this FDR with the kit spur and a 39T pinion but I am worried if it will not fit . I cant seem to find any info on what the max tooth count is for 48 pitch . However I am not totally set on running a 4.0 FDR as i have a bunch of pinions and spurs on order I am just looking for something to hold me over so I can run the car .

If I can fit the 39T pinion thats great . If not what do you guys think is a good pinion to use for the kit spur that will give me an overall decent FDR with my 17.5 motor to make it around the track with a fair amount of acceleration and top speed ?

I do understand that 64P would be best for this but I am currently waiting for my parts to come in. Just looking to do what i listed above as a quick fix so i can run my car.

Thanks
Will,

Will,
You won't be able to get anywhere close to 4.0FDR using the kit 84T 48P spur. You simply won't be able to fit a large enough pinion.

Get another spur. 64P, 100 teeth or less. Ask another racer if they have one.

Like i said I have some on order all 64P. I am just trying to get a general gearing for my car in the time I am waiting for my order of spur gears.

Any suggestions on what will be a good pinion to use with the kit spur to hold me over .

If you guys got any suggestions or know what will work that would be great.

Thanks

Some 17.5 motors like more than 4.0 and some like less. Eg. I ran my D3 at 4.3ish, by my D3.5 is 3.6ish. If a 39T (48P) pinion won't fit with the 84T spur, then go down in teeth until something does fit. Like you, I also have not seen any info on the maximum sizes of gears that'll fit on the T4.

EDIT: I miss-read your OP as I was understanding that you already had pinions. Now I see that you're ordering pinions. My above statement is therefore essentially useless.

No problem. I think I might just call Xray and ask them because they must know if not ill buy a bunch of gears .

If they can tell me it will save a hassle of switching gears and what not.

Front is 171t and the rear is 63t

I know Spec-R do belts, as do Zeppin.
HPI also have a rear belt that that fits
