went through and determined what I needed to finish out this old project ftm ftr 12 project.... some missing parts. Looks like I'll just park the project for awhile and considering the tbar cars are now somewhat obsolete. Thinking of a TC Kit.
thanks everyone for the excellent advice.

Not sure you know this but there are several versions of the Orion esc, the one you'd want is the r10 pro 1s-2s version.

With the Xti there isn't much room on the chassis for electronics. I would highly recommend the Viper for that since it is the smallest. The footprint is the same size as the Tekin RS only you don't need a booster. The down side is because the case is all aluminum it is quite heavy compared to the other ESCs.

Ideally I would like to use:
- sanwa 451 receiver
36.5 x 24.0 x 15.0mm
just to do the comparison the ko407s is 28 x 18.3 x 18.5 mm...
- s9650 servo
Length:1.42 in (36.1 mm)
Width:0.59 in (15.0 mm)
Height:1.14 in (29.0 mm)
- HW 1S ESC
43mm(L) * 36mm(W) * 33mm(H, with cooling fan)
The HW isn't small..
Maybe I should have bought a 12R5.2

Had to order the new upgrade chassis kit,so it is now a not so cheap car.
Remember, it is possible to mount a receiver on its side and save space that way. Some of the 2.4 GHz receivers are so small that you could even consider mounting them on top of the servo in an Xti given that the servo you have to use is also tiny!
