These are really old mods that were based on the original design flaw. Associated has addressed the flaw and has have since released new front bulkheads which reduce the tension such that it is necessary to have the belt tensioner back in place. Over time, the belts will stretch out too which also requires the belt tensioner.

the only way to know is if your belt is too tight, it's quite obvious as the car tends to always have a drag brake and doesn't roll forward after letting off the throttle.

If that's the case, then simply buy a new front bulkhead, unfortunately Associated tried to gloss over this design flaw and didn't provide any recall, they simply kept the same part number. So long as you get a current bulkhead from a reputable distributor you will certainly get the newer version. If you buy the part from a LHS with old inventory sitting on the shelf for at least 6 months, then you might get the original version of the bulkhead:

Ok, its clear, I have to remove the belt tensioner, the belt is to tight, I want the car to be smooth before I mout the brushless combo.

Yes
Hey Bill,

Do you know if this batt will fit? I just bought used sc18 on here and ordered these batts on a hope and a prayer:

The truck i bought has a 6800kv castle and a sidewinder esc. See any problems with that setup? Thanks!

Since you have the car already, you know you can measure the tray right? Not trying to be mean or anything, just want to help you as you search for batteries. To be fair the battery tray on the SC18 is an awkward size, and I come up with a practical measurement of 35mm x 105mm. It is possible to angle the battery diagonally some to possibly make it fit, but I doubt it will add another 10mm that you need. If I were you, I would cut out a piece of paper to match the measurement provided on the battery specs, then try to see how the paper fits in the chassis.

For the 6800kV motor, I would gear down to a 11T or 12T pinion at most and don't let the motor temps go above 160° if you want the motor to last a long time. I have seen motors come off the track well over 200°, but again those motors didn't last.

Best of luck!

Thanks Bill. I don't have the truck or battery in hand. I just bought it on the forums here a few minutes before my post. Thanks for the measurments though.

I'm not saying the battery won't fit, but I have my doubts. I don't have that size battery to test fit my car unfortunately. It is very likely the battery could fit with some modification such as cutting one of the battery strap posts and then coming up with some alternative method to secure the battery?

I would probably just shop around for a more practical battery.

Have you checked availability at HobbyPartz or ValueHobby?

115 mm sounds a bit lengthy. The longest pack I used was a sky lipo that was just under 105 mm and it fit a bit tight.

Hey guys, during the last couple of days I have taken the time to read most of this.

Has a quick question, the stock tires on my sc18 are completely bald except the corners so I want new tires.

People say the losi street meat tires are good for the sc18 (and no mods required to make them fit), but I noticed there are thin front and wider rear tires, which ones should I get for the sc18?

I mostly use this on asphalt and some dirt/grass, the very little places where I know there are dirt fields here in miami, I just bash it around.

Was thinking of the thin ones since I dont think I want too much grip, but I dont know how thin they are.

Would really appreciate it if someone could guide me in the right direction here, thanks.

most folks are running BSR Foams locally here in Austin where we run on an asphalt parking lot, they can be found for as low as $30 for a full set at most online discount shops.

Based on my last post recommending the BSR foams, someone sent me a PM and I figure I would answer the same questions here for the benefit of others and perhaps some folks might help me out too:

The mini t or rc18t tires?
And should I get "front/rear" or "2 rear" or "2 front" sets.

I'm guessing they dont work in dirt at all right? I'll have to buy another set for driving in the dirt.

And, do they only come in that yellow color?
I would get the white wheel foams for the 18T, they are compatible with the SC18. I would also get the front/rear set where the front tires have the outer 25% tread with a harder compound to prevent traction rolling. If you still experience traction rolls, then it would be a good idea to spread a thin even coat of CA on the sidewalls of the front tires. I believe the yellow dish wheels only come with the Mini-T option. I am not certain if the Mini-t adapter is the same pin size used for the Associated cars, I have only used the while spoke wheels.

I have had success using acetone to remove the tires which makes it possible to dye the white wheels any color of your preference and then you can remount the tires with some thin CA.

I doubt foams would do well on dirt tracks with rough loose soil, more than likely the foams will be ripped and torn. I have heard of foams being used on well groomed oval tracks with high traction damp clay, though I have not ran these foams on clay to be certain how well they perform under those conditions. I have only used them on a prepped asphalt track in the parking lot near our local HobbyTownUSA stores. If there is a HobbyTown near you, then chances are they stock the BSR's as well.

Best of luck!

Hey the pm was from me, didnt want to clutter this thread but anyways.

this is the link you put up a couple of posts back
http://johnsbsrracing.com/foam-tires/rc18t-mini-t

now, are these the white wheels/tires your talking about?
http://johnsbsrracing.com/foam-tires/touring-car-foams

or these, which is a link you posted up somewhere else I found on google on urc
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXYRD3&P=M

Also, I wont be using them on prepared tracks, just regular asphalt, ex. driveway, parking lots, streets, etc. which there will be some loose dirt/rocks. Should I still consider these tires?
