One thing making me doubt the SC8 is that IMHO SC8's totally suck on rough tracks.. My nitro SC8 has been awful on the tracks I've run on.. Jumps awfully, gets caught up in ruts and wind and gets sent cartwheeling, etc.. Which makes me wonder if maybe the buggy is better... Just can't decide...
You can only go so fast through hard turns, or you'll traction roll (that's with tires that hook up at your track)....and on long jumps, you need to feather off the throttle while you're in flight to help level off and barely tap the brake right before you land so you can land the nose perfect while the rest of the truck follows.....This makes it a slight challenge, but it acts like a real truck would.
Buggies and truggies are SO EASY to drive in these situation it's not even funny....you can pull out of just about any danger, even in mid air....but that's because they are not based on anything REAL in life....it's just all performance, and nothing else (Dream Vehicles!).....That's why they are SO DAMN UGLY!!...(Buggies can look good with the older mid-cab bodies, but they SUCK now with them CRAP-FORWARD bodies--really makes me lose interest buggies and truggies now..I'm desperately hanging on to old bodies just to keep my RC8B around because I refuse put one of those disgraceful, disgusting thingies on my buggy)

My local track is tight-ish, rather poorly maintained, and gets really rutty. It's even pretty awful with buggy, unless you really invest a lot of time and effort in setup/experimentation.. Decent enough for truggy.., which is mostly what people run there..(partially why I went and got one again, after selling my RC8T a while back, getting a couple of buggies, but then realizing that the track is just better for truggy..)
The SC8 IMO would be awesome on a smooth track. Are you the one in VA, with the vids of your SC8e on the track? That's a nice track you run on, and your SC8 looks good on it..
I guess I could go and try again to find some kind of good setup, but the last time I did that - all new oils in diffs and shocks, new tires, springs, etc etc.., it was just awful. Windy day, sending the truck sailing in the air, but it was the ruts that were the worst.. Those bumpers catch just a little bit and off it goes carthwheeling through the air.. I would love to run my SC8 on a big open smooth track. Just don't have one though, unfortunately...
And yes, I just can't decide.. I seem to hear more unequivocally positive stuff about the SC10 than I do about the 8.2's - buggy or SC.. People seem to not like those Reedy motors I guess.. I don't know.. So many pros and cons.. - SC10 is cheaper, but SC8.2e shares parts.., RC8.2e is raceable, etc etc etc....
Here's my local track:
The two guys running the Mugen truggies are much better (or just invest way more time in it than I do..) at setup than I am. Hard to tell maybe from the video, but with the SC8 and even a buggy it's a total crapshoot running up to all the jumps on that track. Especially the two from the vantage point from which the video was taken - coming at you and going away. Total mine-field and shot in the dark as to where you'll end up from the bottom of the jump face to the top... And with the SC8 on a windy day..., fa-get about it..

I hear ya man--set-ups can be a hassle to figure out sometimes...and yes, That's me in those videos -- the Green and White Lucas Oil body -- Thanks for the props...
....The TILTYARD is usually in great shape like you see in those videos--especially in a big race, but after a while of not running on it, it gets loamy and marbleized, which is still fun!!...Ya just get to drift a lot more.....
....I pull out the TRENCHERS for that FUN!!.....
I do wish AE would have kept the Castle stuff in the new SC8e.2, and put the MMM instead of the MMP, it would be the best deal in town....LOL....of course I switched out the servo right away, but all RTR's have crappy servos....I'm not sure if the Reedy stuff is good or not, I still haven't heard anything about it....

What are you guys' thoughts on the TT ST-4? There is a killer deal going on one here for €350(compared to €500 for the SC8.2e..) I mean, in some ways it would be ideal for doing the same things I would do with an SC8.2e - parking lots speed blasts, general bashing, and the occasional running on a track between nitros... I keep reading things about the SC8.2e and RC8.2e electronics that make me have doubts - and at the price of the whole shebang - car, batteries, charger, learning curve, etc.., I would like to be sure I'm making the right choice.... Thanks.
BTW, I can also get an MT4 G3 or E-MTA for €420.

How long a run time are you getting from your turnigy? Do you like them? I got a couple Thunderpower 11.1 volt when I bought my truck. I get about 1/2hr or so, depending. I was looking on the AE site, seems like you can't get metal shock caps by themselves, you have to buy the kit, or settle on plastic. What a rip. Oh well, have to dig deeper into the piggy bank.

But this thing RIPS! The ass squats down and the nose & body raises up while keeping the front tires tippy-toeing, all while trying to maintain a B line while fish-tailing is making it harder and harder and I still could not resist the temptation of staying full throttle...A grin from ear to ear...lol! ~ I AM BACK!
