Maybe something bent like a motor plate .....

My experience has been the Triad spurs are very quiet ..

New motor plate, and pinion. Albeit the pinion is a steel robinson (cheap one), so i will try another one and see.

I will check the top shaft, but what should i look for? wobble or bent?

Thanks, Krom.

Hum thanks for the ESC input. Gonna run some Google searches on the other units. Reviews seem few and far between now a days. Haha sad I remember mechanical speed controls

If you have any questions about a specific speed control, jump over into their thread and fire away. You'll get more reviews than you can deal with LOL....

but seriously, if you have any questions about Viper stuff, let me know either here, on their thread, or via PM.

not much difference in any of the brands of spur's or pinion's. They all should perform smooth & quiet.
A used pinion gear can be noisy ,even if it appears to be in good condition.

Personally using the Robinson's pinion gears.

Ck by rotating spur gear & observe the gap between the pinion and spur gear.
If top shaft is bent the gap will become smaller & bigger as you rotate spur.

They should work with ALL wheels and ALL hex's if you think about it. I did notice that the hex cut out in the JC front rims is not as deep as the AE rims, and that is where the trouble comes from.

Wonder if it would be a upgrade to get those hexes if you do not have hexes.

Same here. I even went out an picked up the X-factory top shaft. Alone with a new Kimboro spur, it wobbles too.

I finally said the hell with it.
