Default Silicon engine coupling keeps breaking

I am new to this sport. I have a hpi pulse and since i got it last week, the exhaust coupling which is made of silicone broke 3 times already and i had to get it changed. The plastic brackets kept melting, so i put iron hose clamps which didnt really help. Can anyone please help me and give me some advice what i should do, am tired of going to the model Shop.

if your pipe and manifold are both properly secured there shouldn't be any stress on the coupling at all. Check the manifold spring and pipe spring/support (at the front of the pipe).

thanks for your reply. it seems the spring is pretty tight which holds the exhaust on the engine, the spring looks like its cutting into the metal of the exhaust outlet really dont know how this silicone connector can break for a third time. maybe the metal hose clamps were too tight :s

check ur pipe hanger at your chassis, make sure your pipe sets exactly straight. use appropriate springs, and use good silicone. many good pipe out there, OS, Nova, but for basher any pipe works good.
good luck

maybe less of a gap between the muffler and the header.

To recommend a good pipe for just about any situation the ofna 086 is a great solution.

Get a few extra gaskets and springs for the engine and manifold while you are there. Just in case right.

This will also change the tune of the engine and likely get you some more power. the 086 is an all around pipe more focused on the mid range so for whatever you do with the buggy you will like it.

My thought, Boinker.

Some of those couplers are pretty soft. Especially if by chance this is on an older used car.
Try a piece of radiator type automotive hose. This would just be a quick fix. If it keeps breaking, something is not right.

There is no way that piece can keep breaking unless something is loose or rubbing on it. Even if the spring was weak and did not hold the header to the exhaust port tight and let it turn, the silicone is dense enough to hold the header in place as long as the pipe is mounted to the chassis up front properly. Can you post up some pics of the broken silicon pieces?
