Don't be too concerned with the composite hinge pin braces, they're really good. Actually, don't be concerned at all. I'll give you a little background on them.

We originally made them for the EB48. They held up great unless you hit something REALLY hard. We kept making them stronger and stronger and to this day we still have a test buggy running them. Ultimately though, we decided to go with the 7075 braces for the buggy market.

When the testing started on the SC truck, we knew that they would be the ticket since the truck is much lighter than the buggy. Add a big front bumper into the mix and you have one tough setup that we are 100% confident in. ALL of our test trucks are running the composite braces and we honestly haven't had any issues with them.

There are other composite parts on the truck as well. Plastic gets a bad rap when used improperly. But if a composite part fits the application, it is the best material for the job. It's lighter, just as durable, and less expensive. This allows us to bring the kit to market at a more reasonable cost, which helps everyone.

For comparison, Kyosho, Mugen, XRay and others have all used (and are still using some) composite braces for years.

All that said, we understand the desire for aluminum. But we have decided on our product release path and we want to make the biggest impact possible. It came down to exclusion or inclusion - and we didn't want to exclude anybody by releasing a kit that only a few could afford. This is better for the hobby, it's better for 90% of the racers, and it will allow us to continue with our vision of a stronger RC industry.

In other news, we should have a release date and pricing info next week. Oh yeah, and we have a couple videos to post up too. We filmed our race last night so you can get a better feel for how these trucks perform on the track .

I'm glad I can share wheels and tires with the 22sct, definitely will cut down on wheel and tire buying!

Really glad to see this truck coming. I've been planning on selling my RC8 collection to get the EB48 for next summer outdoor racing. This truck will fit right in and will probably replace my Durango.

Thats awesome , I have no problem with plastic if its made right . This will probably keeps cost lower as well since the alloy blocks are a 50 dollar option for each end .

Will the body be an SCTE body or will it be up to the user to get one of their choice ?

Just about any popular SC body will fit. If you already have one painted up from your current truck, chances are it will drop right on. We've been using SCTE bodies and proline bodies for testing. We may offer a body at a later date, not sure.

That being said, I assume the kit won't have a body. Regardless, I'm ready for a preorder date!

Thanks for clearing it up, of course we trust your judgment and testing experience.

Teasing, teasing... and we are counting the days excitedly as 5 year old kids...
No body in the box is not really a concern, just give us the distances between body mounts so everybody can have their favorite body ready when the truck arrives

Damn you Tekno...
I gave up the Losi about 6 months back, and decided to do the SC10.2 4x4 conversion, and now you do this.
Guess i'll just have to run both and see which one I like better!!!

We decided not to include a body. It would have increased the box size by almost 300%, which increases the shipping and the cost. No matter what we did with the body design it would be hard to please everybody with the looks. And knowing how everyone has their preferences about bodies already, why not just let them choose? SC bodies are similar to touring car bodies in the way that one body can fit many chassis and vice versa.

I think that was a good decision...

Have you guys thought about selling a body separate?

I just got home from the electric buffet race in Vegas tonight. Got a few peeks at her with her top off. Looks good, real good.
