I used an old tin pie pan and put foil over it. worked fine. also dont leave it over night near anything in case for some reason it combusts because acetone is extremely flamable. I set the pan in the middle of the concrete with a good radius part from everything in every direction. saftey first.

We're slightly off topic here, but I've had great luck baking off tires. 325 for 12 minutes. Let 'em cool for 5 and peel 'em off. I've done at least a dozen pair this way recently and haven't lost a tire, wheel or insert. No mess afterwards either

Well the acetone itself is in a glass bowl and the bowl is in the rubbermaid container. After 8 hours nothing seems to have happened.

The couple of times I've baked, I've had to replace the inserts. But the inserts are cheaper than new tires and wheels! I think I'll try the acetone thing next time. Will I have to replace the inserts yet again with acetone?

I dont care what anyone says. The insert take a beating with acetone. I did a set a few days ago and they were all f'ed up. The are more brittle and flake apart when squeezing. And acetone tears up closed cells.

Greg, if you want the acetone method to work faster, cut around the bead slightly with an xacto knife. I did a set last night and this morning they were completely removable from the rim

Thing is, it's the wheel that's crap so I'm trying to save the tire and foams. I'll give it another day or so. I'm trying to avoid submersing them.

maybe try placing the wheels above the acetone a 1/4 inch like one guy was talking about earlier. The fumes rise so try that also I bet without submerging itll be atleast 24 hours (or atleast id like to think)

I dont get why u guys don't just cut around the sidewall of the tire and pull the foams out before putting them in the acetone that's what I do and it works great..

I believe its because he wrecked a rim and wants to keep relatively new tires and inserts but get a new rim.

Have fun racin' today everyone!

The hex on the wheel is rounded out but it's a brand new AKA Wishbone tire and new foam too.
