Ive run several different 17.5 motors, and If you want the best 17.5 motor then the speed passion MMM is the best way to go, but the motor has set timing built into the sensor board, so you have to switch the boards out to adjust the timing. The revtech is a great motor but has a lot of timing already built into the motor and runs hot if you turn the can timing up.

My personal recommendation is the reedy sonic. It runs cool throughout the motor timing range. It's the motor I run in my ft SC10, set to 42 degrees can timing and geared 28/75. After a 5 min qualifier or main the motor is about 145-150 degrees. I run in an indoor clay track with a 110+ foot straight.

One follow up - you are still talking about LOSI oil weights, right?

I mainly use AE oil. But my old setup was using 40wt. Losi oil. Its close to AE 37.5. But all my current oil is AE.

Anybody have trouble with the 12mm hex conversion when tightening the wheel nuts ??? It seems when I crank down the wheels especially in the front the rim moves the hex in compressing the bearings and making the wheels not spin great? I do have one shim in there but still doesn't help ?

Yes I had the same problem with using the plastic hexes. When you overtighten the nut you pop the c-clip out of the groove and it binds, or if you don't run the c-clip then the bearings inner races get pressed together and binds the balls. What I did is install the rear bearing, put the clip on and insert in the steering nuckle, put 1 or 2 shims on the axle then the outer bearing. Then I put the aluminum hexes on it (jconcepts, factory team, avid, proline) that should take care of the binding.

Is that for the front or the rear ?

Front. For the rear I run the aluminum hubs, so it only needs one shim on the outside bearing an the locking aluminum hexes

I need help. I'm going to be racing my Associated SC10 2wd RTR stock electronics for the first time next weekend. So, I only have this coming weekend to practice.

Need advice on outdoor clay, medium bite with lots of dust in the corners. Fairly smooth track with one medium length straight-away and one short straight away, has one medium jump and 3-4 smaller ones. Fairly short for an outdoor track. About 610 ft total track length.

So, tell me what you guys would run.

Put the tires that work at that track on it. And have fun staying track and on 4 wheels.
