B) Alex wants to be competitive on a world class level, practicing at slower speeds will not let him reach his goal.

C) Alex always wants to beat me in races, I don't run 17.5 classes.

A good enough driver can make a 17.5 as fast as or faster than mod on a small course, as has been repeated here multiple times. Have you seen the YouTube video of Mark whopping the 4wd class with a vintage 17.5 RC10? Case closed.
Ya'll are all missing the friggin point I was trying to make.

Why run a 17.5 buggy class when....
A) Sportsman is basically for novices who are too intimidated to run in the regular classes.
B) From a track owner's/operator's standpoint, it'll create more work and headaches
C) No one wonders who might be doing this or that in mod classes to cheat because mod is open
D) who is to make the ultimate decision about who may or may not race in the 17.5 class (aside from obvious contract obligations)?

I never accused anyone of cheating, I was just implying that the idea of running a 17.5 class will add more work to the program for the people running it and will ultimately create more headaches than it solves.
In asking a few civil questions......people always gotta jump down my throat (and Tony D.) because it's not what you friggin guys want to hear.
I wonder why it is I stopped racing down there in the first place......

Believe me, no one wants more 2wd buggies on this planet than me, but let's face it. It is and SCT world and we have to accept that. Besides, without the release of the slash, I dare say that there would be a few less tracks and shops in the area and that the hobby in general, would be very different.

2wd buggy has always been around and will always be.......there is no need to change it.
Again.......my opnions.......if you read this and your panties get all bunched up and you start smashing keys or bitching at your kid or dog because you might be mad at me.......thanks for proving my point.

BTW.......we are having a Charity Trophy race next weekend at RCH&M in honor of Steve Semeraro and 2 other race oriented fellas we lost this past year. If any of ya'll feel like getting your butts whooped in 2wd buggy.......MOD.......come on up.
