False, the Hot Bodies D4 and Team C T4 both use 12mm hexes on the front, and the same offset as the B44.

When you grind through that chassis film, just buy some school book contact and lay over the chassis, very cheap per roll. Interesting to see what AE would sell the film for.

I did this trick with my old RC10 Stealth Team graphite chassis. Worked a treat and the roll lasted forever.

Seriously, they have a different philosophy and history which may be the more dispositive factor. The b44 grew out of the bj4 more or less.

The bj4 took several cues from the yokomo series cars. Go online and find a picture of the mr4-bx and then further, the yz 870c. Look familiar? Not saying this was a copy, but a solid, tried and true approach back then was a good carbon fiber chassis, saddle pack arrangement.

Interestingly, yokomo ended up going composite later.

But anyway, AE evolved their buggy from this basic approach and in the AE philosophy continues the evolution, not revolution. It works for them and they should continue to do it.

I have a dex410 which handles nicely and is a tank, but if 17.5 4wd ever became popular, I'd hands down go with the 44.2 or the SX3 (or 4 when it comes out).

This is going to be an awesome kit. It is too bad that it's still SAE. Not a big issue, but they should migrate the rest of their platforms to metric already.

It appears that the B44.1 battery cradle and straps would fit on the new chassis. Thoughts? The plastic 44.2 cradle looks like a RTR style of battery fitament. The only thing that bothers me is that the chassis is 3mm narrower. The instructions do mention tha the center battery spacer can be replaced with a lipo ballast weight but is it the same as the B44.1?

narrower is good imo, makes it more agile and like the durango. I like my b44.1 but this thing should on paper blow it away!

Narrower is better but it was in reference to the B44.1 cradle and if the mounting holse would be off.

I like the plastic quick release cradle. Those thumb nuts are a PITA especially if you're in a hurry. Measure the width of the 44.1 CF battery cradle and subtract 1.5mm. If there is still a decent thickness then I'd say the ballast is a carry over. If its too thin (meaning the battery needs to be moved closer to center line) then I'd guess its a new ballast.

I was going to say, the AE chassis protector is quite thick. School Book Contact paper was quite thin, IIRC. JConcepts film is thinnner as well. AE still has the best stuff, IMHO.

I don't know anything about these cars, are then any tricks for the Electrics? At this stage I've got a hobbywing 120amp esc and 5.5t motor to push it and a savox 1258 to steer it, is this reasonable kit for these cars, no fundamental issues like it won't fit?

Perfect. You're set. Add a fair amount of drag brake, and don't drive it like you would a 2WD. Took me a while to get comfy with the 6.5, but I'm going to snag a 5.5 for my 44.2
