Novarossi engines thread

The conrod is always touching the backplate making scratches. I know some have played with teflon and DLC coatings to lower the resistance when touching it which still slowly disapeared and since the Collari 35-plus-21 they have inserted a steel plate. I do not think it makes a difference but hey, somehow the marketing has an effect because people want it.

Does anyone have much experience with the novarossi pre run engines? I recently purchased a flash 21 special pre run and the compression seems quite low (can turn the engine over by hand relatively easily). Is this normal or something to be concerned about?

I had two pre-run .12s this season and mine were similar. There was no shortage of power though.

I don't think they were completely different. I think you'll be happy with your motor and the time you saved by buying it the way you did.

Thanks for your replies. I ran the car today and the motor seemed to run alright. Still concerned about its longevity though. Once it's warm it extremely easy to turn over by hand. There is barely any resistance at all at tdc.

It is still the fastest Nova I have had with 9 litres and 3 races through it.

Thanks that's comforting to know. Mine is pretty much the same with no mechanical pinch at all to speak off. I've only had a chance to run a single tank through it so far and it was still quite rich, but it didn't miss a beat. Hopefully get some more time to test this weekend.

My first one I was concerned, then I bought a new run-in for the GLC. Paolo tuned it and "SWEET BABY JESUS" that thing was fast. Neither of them had much of a pinch but they ripped. I'm only about 90% of where lil-bump is, I want to learn how to do this on my own but it really is nice to know all you have to do is put a clutch on, tune, and you're ready to race.
